Bought the 2006 model FORD Mustang brand new, it was my first new car and I was so proud to own it. The problems started with the radio comming on and draining the battery while the car was parked. Argued with SEVERAL mustang fans who knew it all and the dealership that sold me the car. The dealership said they were going to call a Ford Engineer after the 5th time it was hauled into the shop. They stil denied the Shaker 500 unit was the source of the problem, the irony is that the unit was an upgrade on the car and cost several hundred dollars more. The problem never occured again after switching the unit out for an Alpine commercial unit. The second major problem was the shifter. The plastic shift slide on the shifting gate broke and bound up into a giant mess. I asked the dealership how much a replacement would cost and was met with the response that if I wanted to replace any piece of plastic on the unit I would have to purchase the entire shifter unit. Which I was quoted $800.00 for. So I went online and bought one that was salvaged, however the unit was the following year model and different, dimensions differed by .03" so I had to fenagle a few parts to make it work. It took half a Saturday but cost me $50.00 instead of $800.00.
Then there was the transmission issue. The car started acting up shifting at odd times and running sluggish, the wrench light came on and after the car was shut down and restarted the problem was solved until the next occurance. That problem lasted for about a month, then it got to the point where the car was unreliable and needed to be fixed. So I took it to a local shop who ran the codes and found it indicated a sensor failure. $400.00 later the car was back on the road again. Until the next problem.........
