I was traveling out of state on a lone stretch of highway in Arizona when the alternator failed, 6 months and 5 mile after the warranty expired. The car was towed to my friend’s mechanic in Tucson. The mechanic told me he installed a new alternator. At home while doing my own wrenching, I found that the alt was a rebuilt - which is ONE of the prime reasons why I do my own maintenance!
