I have to count to figure out what gear I'm going to be in because the top sleeve is stuck,which coincidently also operates the little orange gear indicator. Plus I get the awesome view of being able to look straight down into my gear box! Although my car only has 38,000k,this is just one of the issues I've had. Ford said, " I'm sorry,we don't have a program for that". RRRRRR!!!! But if I'd like the dealer to fix this they said it would be $800.00. Hmm! I'm still trying to save money for a new hood. : /
Mustang has much notable grinding of gears and shifting difficulty that dealership mechanic said was not there. I have some mechanical background and with a mechanic friend who says problem is there. Gear changing is difficult and grinds shifting into 2nd gear especially. This is a quite notable problem. I can understand how mechanic can say there is no problem.
My Mom purchased this car in 2005 and right from the beginning we complained about transmission jerking, every time we took it in they would note it but just checked down their list and would say they see no problem with the transmission. So it has always jerked.
Then 3 weeks ago I was entering the freeway and it is an automatic, I accelerated to enter at 60 miles per hour so that I would be going with the flow of traffic. It sounded like it was in a low gear and would not engage in a higher gear, then the engine light came on. I let up on the gas and then the transmission engaged.
I called and spoke with a lady at Ford and I told her I had heard their was a recall on the 2005 Mustang transmissions a mechanic a few years before showed us a paper on the recall, when we brought it in that time, we needed an oil change and we were told when you have a problem bring it back. So I told this lady now I have problem, right away she asked if I needed an oil change, I said no cause it always seems they try an deflect the problem.
So we did have other issues the alternator needed changed and the battery so they changed both and said the electrical would effect the transmission not running right cause everything would not work correctly without the right amps.also they noticed our speedometer was not working and said everything is connected to the computer and it would not send the right message to the computer and that could cause it not to get the right message so we fixed the speedometer which by the way went out 5 years ago so we dropped off 2 keys so they could reset the computer in the car and now we picked it up and were told we need to go 1000 miles for everything to reset I drove the car yesterday and the transmission still does not seem right, end of rant feeling like I've been sold another bill of goods..
This is something I had never expected from a low mileage garage kept fair weather vehicle. Having worked years ago for a major manufacturer of OEM parts, that includes clutches and clutch assemblies, this should have never happened in a 100,000 miles let alone a mere 25,500 miles. I have had stick shift vehicles for a good forty years, and never had a clutch release bearing (throw out bearing) failure. Bad Bad Bearing!!
