Very annoying problem but very simple fix. I bought the cars used with about 30k on it and had no problems. Around 45-50k, the engine at times would seem to have a mind of its own; revving faster when I wasn't pressing the gas pedal and idling too high or low which often resulted in the engine stalling (even while driving). Once this problem, simply pulling over, turning off the engine for a few minutes and turning it back on will fix the problem temporarily (enough usually to get through the day). This problem is a very simple fix, just drop by the Ford dealer and pick up a new TPS (Throttle Position Sensor), they run around $150. The install is very simple (a picture of where the sensor is is attached) and should only take about 5-10 min. I've never had that problem since.
