Still have original convertible top on this car- it is now 11 years old and the top is starting to fray at the seams, and the glass rear windshield is starting to detach, so we can no longer put down the top on the car for fear of the glass completely falling out of the car. I don't know of any other fix than to get a new top installed, which from my research runs about $1500. It's an expensive fix, and added to all the other mechanical issues we have had with this car it's low on the list of priorities to get it fixed. We had always hoped to keep this car until it becomes a classic, however, it is swiftly becoming a money pit as we have to put money into it about every 6 months for major repairs. It's a shame, because it was originally a beautiful car, but as a daily driver, no go.

Vinyl convertible top shrunk between 2010 and 2011 so much that the material separated from the back window and could not be reattached by any method. The inner material was still attached to the back window so I never had a leak, but it looked fairly bad so I had the top replaced before the back window totally fell out. The upholsterer that I hired said that it wasn't a fun job. Quotes that I obtained ranged from $1200-$1500. I replaced with a canvas type top that shouldn't shrink in the sun. I do not have a garage at home or at work so the 5 years of intense summer sun was likely the largest contributor. I hadn't cleaned top with anything other than car wash soap and water (or ran through normal car washes).
