This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While driving the vehicle at 45 mph another vehilce pulled out in front of consumer, causing consumer to slam on brakes. Brakes locked, causing vehicle to skid. Vehicle had extended stopping distance. Dealer had been contacted.
About 2 1/2 months ago my boyfriend was driving my car. He ask me if I had ever had the "brakes not want to work on me" I was driving and I came to a stop sign. There were 2 cars already setting at the sign. When I hit my brakes hard they did not go down as they normally would it felt like somethhing was keeping the brakes from working. I jerked the steering wheel to the right to keep from hitting the cars in front jumping a curb then it was like the brakes kicked in and started working and locked up.
Vehicle will intermittently stall when I am attempting to come to a stop. When this happens I lose my power brakes and this has caused me to have to swerve to avoid hitting the car in front of me. This has happened at least 6 times. Dealer replaced fuel pump the first time. The second time the idle air control valve. And third the same iac valve. It will still stall. I believe this to be a serious safety issue and am filing the lemon law.
When braking while making a sharp turn in either direction, brakes will vibrate violently and fail to stop the car. When reapplied the brakes operate as intended. Has happened four times and I had the dealer look into problem when vehicle was in service for an unrelated problem. Dealer reported that they found nothing wrong with the brakes.
Car was parked in driveway. Manual transmission was in gear and parking brake set. Driveway is approximately 30 degree incline. Auto rolled on its own approx 40 ft down driveway anh hit a tree. Ford failed to accept any defect responsibility in May. Today I read that Ford is recalling Mustang brakes and there have been no reported incidents. I have been unable to get Ford to acknowledge any responsibility.
When applying brakes gear skipped and and brakes became loose. No braking power. Also, consumer was having electrical problems which caused defects in the alarm.
Consumer was traveling about 42mph on highway and another vehicle was merging into another lane, and vehicle in front applied the brakes. Vehicle in back hit, and there was a five car pile up. Consumer was the last of the chain link, and driver's side airbag didn't deploy.
While driving back wheels locked on her, causing smoke to form inside of automobile. Automobile was not driveable. The cause for rear wheel noise is determined to be rear end assembly failure.
Emergency brake lever stayed up, and the brakes were not engaged. Also, multi- function switch was replaced, and windshield wipers fluid will constantly come out onto the windshield.
Vehicle experienced brake problems. Replacement had to be made on both front calipers, and brake lines due to fluid leakage. Also a loud rattling sound came from the wheels after repairs were made.
