Radiator fan is permanently ON. I have to disconnect it to avoid it discharging the battery. Seen a variety of similar reports on the internet but none with a clear answer. The temperature gauge in the instrument cluster works fine. The engine warms up OK and the thermostat opens and the cabin warms OK. Doesn't matter if air con is on or off.
Some accounts refer to a thermo sensor in the engine - that's hard to get access to requiring specialist tools. And its expensive.
I have looked for a good old thermo switch rad sensor but cant find one. Although the engine bay is crowded so it may be there but I havent spotted it yet. (Accidentally pulled off a hose once that poured hot water over me! Doh!)
It's a 2.0l diesel automatic vehicle. Has worked fine for the seven preceding years Ive owned it.
