The component that failed on this vehicle was the restraint control module (RCM). It was replaced by the dealer and is not available for inspection. The safety of the driver I believe was at risk due to the vehicle occupant sensor not showing an occupant and only showing a question mark on the dash display. This was also causing an airbag and seat belt indicator light. The problem has been reproduced by a dealer. The problem first showed a rear seat occupant issue and then started showing for the left front seat. Showing an air bag and seat belt indicator.
I was involved in an accident. During the accident none of the airbags deployed. The impact was so hard that it lifted the truck up off the ground and spinned us around 90 degrees. This resulted in the individuals seated on the passenger side of the truck to be thrown into the door fairly hard, with one passenger hitting her head on the window even with the seatbelt on. The point of impact was the drivers side back tire and bumper area.
On Thursday (June 13, 2024) my truck displayed a fault that states Rear Belt Monitor Fault Service Required, at the same time my air bag light came on. I proceeded to work and found a lot of people have had this issue with their Ford Mavericks but have all said it is actually their drivers seatbelt with the issue. My husband thought he would test it to see and while driving he took his seatbelt off, the airbag light and fault went away but also even driving at highway speeds it never told us the seatbelt was off. When he plugged the seatbelt back in my truck indicated that seatbelt 3 was actually plugged in and the fault and airbag light came back on.
Ford is refusing to actually fix the engine fire problem on the 22 Ford Maverick hybrid that I own and it keeps saying that they are going to have an update available in December they did this before couple months back instead it was going to be in October they keep changing the date and I'm having to drive around risking my life in a vehicle that could catch on fire and explode they even tell me not to park in the garage this is ridiculous when are they going to fix this problem or how do I go about getting them to at least of knowledge this. They have also damaged trim pieces in the vehicle while removing trim to replace air bags, now seat belt no longer works correctly
I got a letter from FORD about a 22C20 Recall of the side curtain airbag. January 2023 And I got a letter in the mail from Ford May 24 2023 and it says your 22C20 recall part is ready. I got an appointment from ford frontier June 1 2023 and when the dealer Service Advisor Jesus Labrada told me sorry, we don-??t have a part for airbags. He told me the left side and right-side airbags need to be changed and we have just one side. He doesn-??t take my car, he told me please call every 10 days to ask if we have a part or not. June 7 2023 I emailed Michael Marshall about the 22C 20 recall part. Do you have it and I got back to me and he said No part for recall yet. June 2023, I got another letter from Ford and Customer Satisfaction Program 22B39 about the vehicle, it may be possible a 12V battery connection may become loose, resulting in a no- start condition. June 2023, I got another letter from Ford about 23S27 on your vehicle, the engine could fail prematurely, in the event of an engine failure. And the letter says part may be available October 2023. Right now, I am not using this car, it-??s just sitting in my driveway. It-??s not safe for me, if engine fails and if I crash airbags are not working, I don-??t want to make a risk to get me or someone else in the car to get a injury or die. I would like to return this Ford Maverick Truck for a full refund.

Ford is taking an unreasonable amount of time in correcting NHTSA Recall Number 22V594. I have purchased the vehicle and the dealership will not let me take ownership until the recall is corrected. Ford estimates the parts to be available in the first quarter of 2023. Not allowing a consumer to take ownership of a vehicle for over three months after paying for it is unjust. The delay in fixing the vehicle is absurd considering the fact that other Ford Maverick's are currently being built and delivered with a safe airbag system.
The side curtain airbags in my 2022 Ford Maverick have been recalled, but the replacement parts will not be available for 5-6 months. This is a Massive safety concern for me as I drive the truck with my 1 and 3-year-old daughters. This is a dangerous situation that I am being told can not be remedied in a timely manner. I can not be expected to cover the added cost of a rental vehicle for close to half of a year and I refuse to put my children and myself in danger by continuing to use this faulty vehicle.
