When coming to a complete stop at low speeds, the vehicle suddenly lurches forward unexpectedly which may cause an accident. It's not consistent, so it catches you off guard when it happens. I'm concerned that this may cause me to hit a another car or worse yet a pedestrian crossing an intersection.
Vehicle seems to have a problem with the brakes engaging when trying to stop. Will have it inspected soon to see why. But has gotten me close to hitting other cars at times because when trying to ease into a stop or simply move up in line brake won't engage for a bit then all the sudden engage and will jerk the vehicle from the sudden stop. And happens frequently
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brakes were grabbing, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a software update under an unknown TSB; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no additional assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20.
Brakes grab abruptly at slow speeds. This doesn't occur every time but when it does occur it can be significant enough to launch an unfastened dog into the front console. At times it feels like the car wants to lunge forward for a second then the brakes grab as if they are locking up. This only occurs at slow speeds like in a parking lot.
Braking issue at slow speed, jerky and unpredictable especially in reverse. hard to duplicate on demand but not real comfortable with this, going to dealer for updated resolution. But I've heard of bad feedback on results from others in my maverick owners club. I am hoping for a more permanent fix for our family investment.

Despite having the Tsb done to fix the Grabby Brakes problem, it is now worse. The brakes now have a void zone in the pedal travel, which makes these brakes even trickier to use. Also when the brakes grab about 1/2 the time it also makes the vehicle steer to the right. On the enclosed photo this was the damage done to my vehicle when pulling into the garage, when the brakes grabbed and pulled the vehicle to the right. In summary this is a problem which needs to be fixed before the brakes grab and pull me into another vehicle in a tight parking scenario. God forbid the brakes would cause my vehicle to veer into a person standing nearby. In summary the brakes are not something I can rely on with confidence.
During a moderate cruise speed, 15-35 mph, the vehicle will produce a shudder. The vehicle shakes as if riding on rumble strips. It can replicated by coasting and resting the foot on the brake lever. It does not occur every time but it is disjointing when it does occur. This would occur 3-7 times a week. The way I-??ve found to stop it is to apply the brakes or the apply acceleration. Such maneuvers become unpredictable, and novice drivers may over react. This issue is well documented by drivers, with the keywords -??hybrid shuddering.-?? Because it is inconsistent, and ford has not pushed out a fix, this issue has been unresolved.
Low speed grabby brakes. When I go to park my maverick hybrid at the last moment it stops you very suddenly under 5mph. And my back up camera has frozen up a few times now mening when I back up the camera does not keep movies but stays frozen in 1 spot.
Grabby brakes at low speed. Even after getting the suggested fix from Ford my vehicle still has the grabby breaks. There is also an issue where coming from a fast speed down to a lower speed the vehicle starts to vibrate violently until I either press the gas or press the break. Seems like the breaks are pulsing on and off very fast causing it to shake.
The brakes are very grabby and abrupt when stopping at low parking lot speeds or creeping up in a drive-thru line. It often makes a clunk noise and it feels like it will not stop at all until you hear that clunking noise. I took it to my dealership but they said they could not replicate the issue so they did nothing about it, even after showing them a TSB 23-2060 document saying what to do and why. I recalled one time I was driving between cars in a parking lot, it makes that noise, and a couple that was having a conversation next to their car thought I hit their car after they hear the noise, they were even looking for damages on their car and looking at me.
TSB 22-2493 has been issued for my vehicle and I have been experiencing the braking problem for a year. The problem is intermittent and that causes a safety issue because you never know when you are going to be jerked to a stop. I describe it like the braking you get with a new driver that just pushes the brake to the floor. You never know when your car is going implement a panic stop and throw you forward. What I am experiencing is not a feature of Hybrid braking. It is intermittent so it is may not occur on a test drive. I have taken to my truck to my FORD dealer for the resolution of the TSB but the software update was not installed because they could not replicate the problem.
This is the Hybrid version. Under 5 mph the brakes grab very quick and are very unpredictable. This is a extreme safety issue. When coming to a stop in traffic or just pulling into the garage you dont know how it will stop. Ford issued a TSB repair to correct this but after 300 miles it is back doing the same thing. There are thousands of other folks having the same issue, Ford needs to repair this before someone becomes seriously hurt.
I have problems with the braking system. It is very grabby and abrupt when stopping at low parking lot speeds or when creeping up in a drive-thru line. When is grabs, it often makes a clunk noise. It also feels like it will not stop at all, at times and this is a safety risk to myself and others. The vehicle was serviced on 12/21/2022 for this concern and was told the software was already updated. (reference TSB 22-2493), though, the vehicle still has concern. I returned to dealership on 3/27/2023 for same concern, and was told they could not duplicate. This remains to be an unresolved issue. What are my next steps to get this safety issue resolved? This is quite alarming to me. FYI: The vehicle clunked when entering and stopping in the dealership service area on 3/27/2023. I even showed the service advisor a video demonstrating the clunking noise.
The brakes on the Maverick are grabby and unpredictable when applying them when driving less than ten mph. When the brakes are grabby, the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, and a loud noise is heard from under the hood. It is inconsistent and makes driving in parking lots, backing out of my driveway, or any place where I need to drive much slower than normal more dangerous. I have taken it to the dealer, and they have not addressed the issue. After only a few minutes on the internet, it seems this is a known issue and a potential safety concern for both the Maverick drivers and those outside the Maverick (other drivers or pedestrians). There are no safety lights or warnings that appear when the brakes instantly grab and lock. It is jarring and escalates the already anxiousness of driving. Having unpredictable brakes is a danger.
While in low speeds there are times the brake pedal stiffens then is unresponsive, then when applying more pressure all of a sudden the brakes would engage causing the car to come to an abrupt stop. Nearly hit the car in front of me during these instances.
At low speeds <5 mph the brakes will lock/bite and other times they will perform normally. Pedal response is basically unpredictable which could cause an accident.
For now nothing happens but im frustrating about recalls and my dealership is finding the -??braking-??? problems, the maker me unsafe also by 02/06/23 check -??ENGINE LIGHT-???comes on. And they gave me appointment in 42 hours. And also my maverick has a lot oil comes out front oil filter, that's my dealer unprofessional services.
(there is a brake system malfunction. When braking sometimes the brakes would skip and I could feel the brakes not grabbing the rotors the way they should. the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer because the dealership could not figure out what was causing the problem with the brakes. the dealership inspected the brakes. there was no warning lamps or messages of the brake problem.) I first started to hear a intermittent rubbing noise when braking and driving slow a couple months after I purchased the vehicle. I took it the vehicle into the dealership and they could not figure out what was wrong. I was told perhaps i was to aggressive on the brakes. the problem continued so i went to another dealership and they looked at the brakes and could not figure out what was causing the noise. the rotors looked glossy (glazed) So I decided to replace the rotors and brakes at my cost because I was told the truck was out of warranty. one week after the repairs were made, I started to hear the rubbing noise again. I was furious! I couldnt believe this was happening on a brand new vehicle, especially on a ford. So I continued to drive until the rotors got so bad that the steering wheel was shaking when I braked.the rotors were warped. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and replace the brake pads and rotors using the ford manual for the 2022 maverick. This time I decided to only drive eco mode on the highway and normal mode in the city. I also turn off the active braking every time I got in the truck. I was also very careful not to be aggressive on the brakes and not to ride them when slowing down. I kept a close watch on the rotors. after two weeks of driving the rubbing noise started again and the rotors are glazed again. I do not know if its a mechanical issue with the brake calipers/master cylinder or a computer/software issue. I cannot afford to be replacing brakes and rotors every two weeks. I am greatly disappointed in ford motor company.
At low speeds, the brakes are unpredictable. Sometimes they grab hard, other times not. Sometimes there is a loud clunk associated with this low speed braking. I don-??t know the cause, but it leaves the driver uncertain how much pressure to apply in braking situations. Snowy conditions are especially hard to navigate. Ford has issued a TSB for the problem which I am in line to have completed. But early feedback indicates that the offered fix only partially resolves the problem.
