My little 1997 red Laser has done its dash, at 287,000 kms in September of 2015. Purchased car second hand in 2007 with 151,000 on the clock. The compressor for the air-conditioner failed at 160,000kms ($500 replaced) with cool air since. Driven her to Uluru, then to Alice Springs in 2011 and the Flinders Ranges. Replaced clutch (main cylinder), brakes during 2011 at approx 190,000kms, then CV joints replaced 2013. Now the suspension rear and front needs doing, the axle and wheel bearings are worn, and the engine is burning oil when starting. It would cost $5000 to repair this car now including new engine. The life of a well service and driven Ford Laser = 18 years. Have no regrets good little car really replacing normal wear and tear items as expected.
