To all Ford Truck medium duty Diesel owners with problems with your fuel filter, pump or injectors clogging or failing. Mostly seems to be affecting 2006 LCF, Super Duty 450 and 550 and some E series only with diesel engines. The fuel tanks on these trucks are failing and the coating on the inside coming off. It will look like flecks of silver paint in your fuel and filters, and it will continue to get worse. Repairs can be very expensive.
We are asking all owners affected by this to file a complaint online with the National Traffic and Highway administration. Their website is: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov
It is a very simple online form and takes about 4-5 minutes. Make sure you put in your VIN number ( found on the rear pillar of the driver's door opening on most trucks ) your year, Ford, your model and "Fuel system, diesel" in the component section, and outline the problem you have had. MOST importantly, if this has caused your truck to stall, lose power on a freeway or other dangerous situation like that, please list it in the complaint. Also file a complaint with Ford Motor Corp. through their customer relations department, and further with your state Attorney general's office.
We need to start to put pressue on Ford to recall these trucks, replace the fuel tanks and the needed fuel system parts at THEIR expense, not ours. This is especially important for fleet managers with multiple vehicles experiencing this problem.
