Much to like about my new 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium Hybrid, but MPG is not one of them. After consistently monitoring for several weeks, my MPG has never come near the 44/41 promised by Ford/EPA. Have tried all City, and all Highway trips, as well as a combination of both. The best I ever got was 39 MPG on a <2 Mile jaunt that was mostly downhill. Driving conservatively, the best average I get is consistently 8-9 MPG below the EPA estimate. While not horrendous, this delta is still significant enough that it will impact me financially, and would have altered my buying decision.
Since I drive mostly on the freeway, there is a large selection of 34-35 MPG gas vehicles that I could have purchased (with no Hybrid premium).
