Bought a new Ford Fusion Hybrid on Jan 20, 2014. At the 6000 mile third oil change, oil was leaking from the transmission. Took it to Ford Dealer. They told me it was a problem with Fusions built from June to Dec 2013 as 2014 model year cars. The robot assembler that applied the transmission case half sealer didn't put enough sealer on the transmission, and some of them leak. Mine leaked.

The transmission engine cradle had to be removed and the transmission removed from the engine, disassembled and cleaned of old sealer, new sealer applied by hand, and then all put back together. This is a definite thrill when you just paid 26K for a brand new car. It was not confidence inspiring. The repair seems to have worked though, as I drove on a 10,000 mi trip the day after I got it back and have had no problems yet. My dealer was Herb Chambers Ford in Westborough MA. They are the BEST DEALER I have ever come across. Next time I will buy from one of their other car brand dealerships, Not Ford. The dealerships owned by Herb Chambers are the best, easiest to deal with, and most honest and hassle free I have ever come across.

Buying a Ford was and is a mistake. The ergonomics of the car are poor on the inside with lots of places to knock your knees on and cheap seats with poor adjustment and BAD center console set up in every way. Even the hybrid battery is too small and will only run the car for 2 miles at most before giving up. However the hybrid control system is the best I have seen and puts Toyota to shame for its management of the hybrid system over all. Somehow though I have a bad feeling about longevity of this Ford, which I guess is normal, but still better than anything GM makes.
