The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the door latch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 15V246000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion hybrid. While driving approximately 10 mph, the front passenger side door latch fractured and caused the door to inadvertently open. The dealer stated that the latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure occurred with the rear passenger door. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact noticed that the rear passenger door opened where a child was seated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the latch was replaced with part number BE82-5426413-D. the failure recurred multiple times with a child seated near the failed door. The contact received a notice for NHTSA campaign number:15V246000(latches/locks/linkages). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed by the dealer that the part which was used to repair the vehicle before would be used again for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 54,083.
