On my way home from picking up dinner on Friday, my car's power steering went out (details are in its own comment). Luckily my husband was with me and was able to get us the 7 minutes home.

The whole ride home, the engine was revving like crazy. When his foot was actively on the gas, the engine was fine. When he lifted his foot off the gas, the engine would rev really high until the EV mode took over (at about 15-20 mph or less). This happened the ENTIRE way home. I'm too scared to drive it (nor do I have the strength since there is no power steering) because I don't want to cause any additional damage, and also, those are not normal engine patterns!

The car is sitting outside my home and I intend to get rid of it as quickly as possible.

I drove the car earlier that day and saw no warning signs or warning messages that there was an issue.

I found out today that there have been 1.6 million fords recalled for defective throttle bodys but mine isn't one under the extended warranty. What a crock. This has happened 6 times in the last 12 days.

The first episode I had with this issue was 2 years ago and I got charged $150 to update the software to the throttle body... if they got 1.6 million vehicles that need to be fixed they should fix them all.

I was driving home from my parents' house one night last year around Thanksgiving. I was creepin' around the hood at about 15 miles an hour since it was 2 AM, and I didn't want to get shot at. For the same reason, I only had my parking lights on. I slowly crept to a stop at a redlight, and I looked down at the little leaves on the gauge cluster and was in the middle of counting when I was rudely interrupted by a high hiss from the heater. I decided to turn it off, and when I reached down to turn the knob, my car shot out at full throttle! I was crying and peeing my pants at the same time! I had no idea these little hybrids could get up and go so fast. I quickly remembered that the Toyota hype brought ABC News to teach me that when a car unintended accelerates, that I need to pop it in PARK and cut the engine off. I did that, and the engine slowly grounded to a hault, and I heard my transmission slip about a trillion gears. About the same time that I stopped, I saw some blue lights flashing behind me, and I heard a faint siren. Long story short, the cop didn't believe my tale when I blamed it on the car. Thank you, Ford. You owe me $650 for going 95 in a 35. I told the judge my story, and he dropped the case after I traded my car off. I bought a new Camry Hybrid, and find it more comfortable than the Fusion. I know that Toyota had problems like mine, but they seem to have fixed them. Thank God that I wasn't killed, but the most important part is that I still have a clean record and haven't been shot.
