Ford hid this issue from the consumer. When I purchased the car I was told that the main battery was warrantied for 8 yrs or 100,000 miles, but battery was expected to last much longer! Car was purchased in July 2010. There was never anything mentioned about the hidden time bomb. It was just the opposite - all kinds of assurances that the battery was not a item of concern.
