The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the brakes became inoperable. The contact had to slam on the brake pedal for the vehicle to stop. The Service Advance-trac, brakes, and check brake system messages were displayed. The contact researched online and discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal harder, the vehicle hesitated to respond, causing the braking distance to be extended. The ABS warming light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact resumed driving; however, the failure worsened, and the vehicle failed to stop. The contact engaged the electric parking brake, and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module, Part Number: BE5Z2C219H, had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the dealer informed the contact that the part had been discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part had been discontinued and the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
