Vehicle had 62579 miles when it threw a P1299 code for engine overheat. Ford checked and said the engine was leaking coolant into the cylinders and it's a common problem on the 1.5 L eco boost engine as per tsb 20-2100. They also said it's out of warranty due to being over 60000 miles. From research it looks like Ford has a known issue with this engine and they are not willing to stand behind it and fix it as they should.

The contact had the oil change service performed however, 50 miles later, the notification returned. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to courtesy Ford Lincoln (1313 ne 122nd ave, portland, or 97230) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The contact sought a second opinion from landmark Ford Lincoln (12000 sw 66th ave, tigard, or 97223) and the vehicle was diagnosed a head gasket failure which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle needed had to be repaired out of pocket because the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
I have a 2017 Ford Fusion titanium with the 2.0L ecoboost engine that has 72,890 miles. I experienced rough idle for about a week then my check engine light came on. I had the engine light checked and showed the code P0302 which is a misfire in cylinder 2. when I proceeded to leave the place of business where I had the light checked white smoke came out of my exhaust upon start up and was still coming out by the time I drove home. I proceeded to do my research over the next couple of weeks following and found out it is a known issue and Ford will only cover if under power train warranty, even though it happens outside the warranty time frame just as much as with in the warranty window. I proceeded to have my car towed to the dealership and a diagnostic done and they said that everything I stated above is exactly the issue along with the PCM self-test showing P0217 engine over temperature condition was detected, and the engine long block assembly does have to be replaced.nothing showed up on my dash to warn me of overheating or anything of the nature. Only the check engine light appeared.

My car has approximately 61,000 miles on it and one day, I turned it on and it made a rough sound starting up. I then noticed my car was shaking and that my check engine light had come on, so I elected to not drive it to ensure no further damage could occur. I consulted with two mechanics who both stated that fluid was leaking from my spark plugs, caused by fluid in my cylinders, and that it was necessary to replace my engine. They plugged code readers in that indicated that my second cylinder was misfiring. After researching online about this issue, I found many other cars of my make and model that had the same issue, some of which stated fires and other serious dangers and were all within 15,000 miles of usage as my car. I am discouraged and disappointed by the fact that I was sold a defective vehicle. I paid good money for a corporation to neglect their mistakes and land me with a 400 dollar car payment on a nonfunctional vehicle that could've caused serious injury or death in certain circumstances. I intend to take my vehicle to the dealership where I purchased it on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 to discuss my options.
Car ran rough when first started them smoothed out, happened a few times the check engine light turned on. Coolant was leaking in cylinders #4 and #3. mechanic stated this year car the engine becomes porous and they needed to replace the engine.
2.0L eco boost engine needs to be replaced due to coolant leak and faulty design in engine manufacturing. Initial warning codes was need misfire on cylinder 2. replaced spark plugs issue remained. Recommend replacing ignition coil moved it to cylindr 1, same message of misfire on cylinder 2 remained. Rough idle
I / the owner of my 2017 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L had a seized engine occur on my commute home from work. White smoke billowed and brewed out my exhaust as I was in the right lane. I immediately pulled over to see what was going wrong and almost caused a collision for the person behind me.. after getting it towed the next day off the side of the highway I brought it to a reputable mechanic stating that this is a problematic issue with this vehicle and my engine block failed & cracked. Proceeding this, I went to another mechanic to get a second thought, just in case. Same response to the issue. Apparently, this is a huge issue with the 1.5L. I was quoted $4,800 to fix this issue, money I don't have laying around, my warranty recently expired and both fred beans of langhorne & Ford Motor Company both told me to "pound sand" because of this issue. That this whole issue is on me to be fixed. Even though I brought my car in for the program 19B37 recall - which fixes the computer system to "prevent" this issue." The vehicle has been in and out of the local shop for cylinder misfires, spark plug fouls & engine start up issues. Which apparently are leading signs to the vehicle engine block issue. It was determined that a new engine was needed and have found bulletins stating this is due to a manufacturing defect known by Ford as Ford had released the bulletins. This defect leads to engine failure and is nothing caused by the driver but solely due to the fact that when certain engines were manufactured they were manufactured incorrectly. Such as the 1.5L. Ford is unwilling to pay for engine replacement even though they have admitted this is fault during the manufacturing processes if the engine is to stall or seize during driving this could lead to serious injury, accident, and even death. Ford is not recalling this engine at this time. Please recall this, now.
The owner/myself driving vehicle home my 2017 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L on the interstate when white smoke billowed out from the exhaust leading to a seized engine on a high traffic density highway. The car started to sputter, clunk and the check engine light kept flashing as I pulled off the side of the road. This car had issues before the failure of the engine with cylinders misfiring, spark plugs being fouled at low mileage and engine losing coolant. Per my vehicles breakdown I brought it to a local mechanic who worked for Ford and stated my engine locked up and needs to be replaced, after bringing my car to another shop for a second diagnosis, it was the same answer after a full look at it. I tried calling Ford in Michigan they gave me the run around, my dealer fred beans of Ford gave me the run around saying I have to cover this repair due to it being out of my warranty. I did the program 19B37 recall from Ford which reset the computer system for antifreeze and coolant entering the engine. Clearly, that issue that Ford tried to patch up didn't work. My mechanic & Ford determined that a new engine was needed and have found bulletins stating this is due to a manufacturing defect known by Ford as Ford had released the bulletins. This defect leads to engine failure and is nothing caused by the driver but solely due to the fact that when certain engines were manufactured they were manufactured incorrectly. 2017 Ford Fusion suffering from a well-documented coolant leak into cylinders. Without warning, the vehicle suffered a loss of power and had to be towed. Coolant found in cylinders see tsb 19-2436
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken to fairway Ford Inc (444 us-117, burgaw, nc 28425) and was diagnosed that a new spark plug needed a spark plug. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and was diagnosed that coolant was leaking into the cylinder and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was rejected to be service due to the warranty being expired. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
After 3 years of owning the car and 81,000 miles (purchased new and never had any issues), vehicle's engine block cracked, resulting in coolant contamination. Ford's investigation showed cylinder #2 and #3 were misfiring and oil was leaking in. The check engine light, poor acceleration, and rumbling while idling all first occurred on the highway, just 2 days after a Ford service center did a complete engine check and oil change. Once the check engine light started flashing at us and the engine wouldn't push past 2K rpms, we immediately pulled over (as Ford warned us that flashing indicated fuel was dumping into the engine). The Ford dealership we towed the car to had no availability to fix the car, as 4 other Fusion with the exact same engine and issue came in earlier that week. That's when the service manager acknowledged this is a much bigger issue than what we believed was a random break. Further investigation showed that we completed the recall Ford issued (customer satisfaction program 19B37) 8,000 miles prior to the engine cracking, which was to reprogram the powertrain control module to fix: "coolant intrusion into the cylinder bores can lead to coolant loss, excessive tailpipe smoke, or illuminated malfunction indicator lights due to engine misfire and could potentially lead to engine damage". furthermore, Ford issued technical service bulletin 19-2139 that acknowledges this exact issue and the warning signs to look for, which Ford failed to identify during the engine check 2 days prior. It's clear there is a design flaw or manufacturing defect in the 1.5L ecoboost engine for 2014-2019 Fusion, and I'm confident you will find thousands of other owners who have experienced the exact same issue. Ford acknowledged the issue with recall 19B37, though it's apparent it did not fix the issue. Ford is just too cheap to truly fix the mess they created.
Check engine light was on indicating a misfire in engine 3. Ford dealership recommended new sparkplugs and ignition coil. I completed the repair, check engine light disappeared. After few days, the engine started overheating suddenly without any warning. I checked the coolant reservoir and it was near empty. Paid Ford again to diagnose the problem, this time they identified coolant intrusion in engine 4 caused by internal coolant leak. The recommendation is a new reman Ford engine with the estimate of $5000.
Vehicle codes started to appear on the dashboard ( temp light, engine light, battery light) warning signs also appeared ( overheating in engine ) engine coolant started to decrease no leak was detected. It was taken to a mechanic to get evaluated and they came to the conclusion that it was leaking internally into the car which caused other issues. This car was purchased February 2020 so 8 months later the car has completely crashed. White smoke is also expelling from the vehicle exhaust. The spark plugs are burning up they were replaced approximately 8 days ago and they are completely burned white.
Driving 70mph on highway when car shut down. No power and no brakes. Was able to get onto shoulder and car automatically went from D into P on its own once it came to complete stop. Car restarted and was able to finish trip with no other problems. Very scary and dangerous.
While driving my 2017 Fusion 2.0 eco boost with 77,000 miles the "service engine soon" light came on.the light went off a few days later but I had already made a service appointment at the dealer where I had purchased it brand new. They've also done all of the routine maintenance. They said it just needed new spark plugs and injectors cleand, so they did the work and charged me $400. After I got the car back 2 days later the light came back on, I returned the car to them. It's 2000 miles over the extended warrranty I purchased. After they had it a few days they determined it has coolant leaking into cyclinder number 1. the repair was $6,236.92 to fix. I was able to persuade the dealership into having the extended warranty company pay half. My part was $3236.92

The contact stated while driving 62 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle started to shudder and jerk. No warning light was illuminated. The contact also stated that on another occasion, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and started to jerk. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was informed to take the vehicle to a Ford dealer that there was a recall associated with the vehicle. The vehicle was later taken to dick smith Ford of columbia located at 7201 garners ferry rd, columbia, SC 29209, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,063.
I was driving about 10 mins away from my house, in the city as I approached a red light my car shut off. It stopped while I was in motion, I couldn't brake, theres was nothing could do but just let the car stop on its own. The battery light started to flash, the wrench light came on. I turned the car off, then back on, and it didnt start. So I tried again, and the car started, I was ale to make it home safe. But this is a hazard, I had children in the car, I will like this car to be recalled. I saw in 2017 in July about five thousands 2017 Ford were recalled for this reason. Im scared and dont know what to do!
Engine coolant leaked into multiple cylinders and the engine needs to be replaced. Apparently this is a design flaw and has been known by Ford for many years and has not been recalled. This is the ecoboost engine in a 2017 Ford Fusion platinum. Now the engines are on back order so it will take many weeks to get replaced. The warranty only covers a rental car for 10 days.
