The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his daughter was reversing out of the driveway at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle failed to shift into gear. There was no warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable bushing had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
Was driving my cat and it popped up shift system fault. I couldn't move my car. It stalled in the middle of the road. I contacted several people about this. Found out the shifter cable came loose from the transmission. The clamp that hold its on was gone.i happened to just backed up and this happened. If this was to happen driving this could have resulted in a serious accident
When backing from a parking space, the vehicle would not shift to any gear or neutral. No warning or indication of any problem, it just quit right in the middle of a parking lot. Vehicle shifter kept returning to park and would not move! very dangerous. Mechanic said the shift cable broke. I see on here that others have had the same issue and there was a recall up to the 2017 models. I think Ford needs to recall the 2017 models for the shift cable as well because it's obviously an issue. Car has 80K miles. Transmission was replaced at 66K miles. 2017 Ford Fusion are awful and dangerous! do your customers matter, Ford?
