steering assist fault, service required steering assist fault, service required

This been a problem since 2016 & it's 2019... crazy it's never been a recall for this situation and I read loads of comments of how people got hurt or almost got hurt from this & get rejected from Ford on fixing the problem & not wanting to address it. This s** is not right & shouldn't be happening - it should be recalled immediately...

If you're having these problems please sign up to voice your complaint and don't just read it. More complaints, the better chance of getting them to fix the f*g cars they f up and sell people... I'm scared to drive the only car & transportation I have to work because I fear turning too hard or tight and the wheel locking up and I get into an accident and get killed... I'm lucky it happened when pulling into a gas station...

The steering wheel locked up and I had no control over it... a message shows up saying "power steering assist fault" and the only way to fix this is to turn the car off and restart it & by doing that, it's a temporary fix into. Once you restart the car, the light go off and message and will not show back up. This can be investigated & recalled.

steering assist fault, service required

I first thought it was a wheel alignment problem or brake problem, but later I figure out that it's a power steering problem... where it's an error or something in the system and can occur with a certain mileage. My car only has 70k mile when having this problem... I'm manually steering my vehicle because the power steering is at vault & having errors...

When driving my car and I make to wide or hard/tight of a right turn, the car steering wheel would lock up while I'm in motion and show "power steering assist fault". Do not take your car on the freeway/highway because the power steering will fail lock up while going around a round ramp. Ford please address this to many people having this problem... it should be a recall.. it's a manufacturer problem - no way anyone with 30k to 70k miles and above should have this problem. There were previous recalls for this but none for the fusion & it has the same problem. It's crazy and Ford is just ignoring the problem.

Fusion ES 3.2L V6

  • 35,500 miles

2016 Fusion with 35000 miles and the power steering suddenly failed? How long have cars had power steering? They don't have this down yet? This is my daughter's car and she cannot muscle the steering to drive it safely. Took it to the dealership and they said sorry but you have to pay $2200.00. I asked them if they could work with me on that and they took $400.00 off.

That settled me down for a couple days until they called and told me the parts were on back order for over a month. That's when it hit me. There must be wide spread problems with this for them not to have the parts available somewhere in the United States. Should be a safety recall. Should not have to dish out $1800.00 on a car with 3500 miles let alone have to leave it sit for over a month until the part comes in. Not happy about this.

steering assist fault, service required steering assist fault, service required

VERY VERY ANGRY...Pulling out of a parking spot and my steering wheel SEIZED up. Could not turn left or right. The dash alerts were "service advance trac" "steering assist fault service required". Had it towed to Russ Milne Ford ($70). Was told there was no recall on this issue for 2016 Ford Fusion...WHAT!!!! This is very dangerous and Ford needs to be responsible and have a recall before someone gets seriously hurt or killed.

Will cost me $2500 to have fixed with only 78,000 miles on the car.

Many complaints...need a class action lawsuit!!

VERY DISAPPOINTED

Complete B.S. Should not be happening. This happened in a 2016 Ford Taurus I owned, it only had 40,000 miles on it. At least this car had 140,000.

On March 3, 2017 At approximately 7:30 pm, I was talking to Joey who had the car for the first 2 weeks of owning it and we were discussing the car driving like it was pulling side to side as if it was dragging or possible out of alignment. This issue was only present during bad weather conditions and made it difficult at times to keep straight and between the lines. I checked the tire pressure and inflated all the tires to 35PSI but this made No significant difference.

March 5, 2017 – 9:30pm Getting a good feel for my stopping distance in bad weather conditions and how to control my 2016 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost in snow if I was to lose control, only a few moments into the second slide the “AdvanceTrac” and “ABS” warning lights illuminated. I attempted to restart the car several times without any luck to have the lights go out.

March 6 2017 at 2:04pm I made an appointment at Woodridge Ford & Lincoln, 11580 24 St SE, Calgary, AB T2Z 3K1. On arrival at the Ford dealership, the warning lights had turned off, but I still went inside to inform Ford of the change and still requested diagnostics on the 2016 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost. I Was told by the “Ford Trained Technician” if the light turned off it’s not something to worry about and no point to check.

March 7th, 2017, Multiple times from 2:00 am – 6:00 am After having several “Tire Pressure Light” warnings, it eventually stopped on its own, after arriving at my oilrigs rack site, I stepped out and checked all the pressures. All of the tires were at 35PSI. After continuing up to where the rig was located I heard a loud “Metal on Metal” sound. I accelerated and slammed on the brakes and had no ABS response in 16” of snow, also this did nothing to affect the sound in any way. I sent a text message to my employer to inform him of a possible issue with my 2016 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost. I returned to Rimbey, Alberta to the Ford dealership to discuss the problem. There I was told there might have been a rock in the disk brake, since the sound had stopped shortly after it had begun. I had no reason to doubt the “Ford Trained Technician”.

On Friday March,10 2017 at approximately 1:22pm, I was driving southbound on highway #2, 25km south of Red Deer, Alberta. As I approached a “Road Side Pull-out” 3km north of highway 590 at the top of Antler Hill, the vehicle in front of me had swerved and took the center lane without signaling. I noticed a parked semi in the lane so I signaled to my left and checked my mirrors.

There was a car directly beside me so I braked, once cleared I made my lane change. As soon as my driver side tires touched the pavement of the middle lane from the snow covered lane to which I was traveling in, with the steering wheel to the left. The 2016 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost abruptly turned to the right, taking me directly into a rest stop to which I rear-ended a tractor trailer.

This was a brand new 2016 for Fusion. This problem did not happen during my driving, but the last time I drove it before the error came up I did notice that the car would sway when driving as if the wind was blowing really hard. This does not give me much faith in Ford to make a safe and reliable vehicle.
