The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was restarted. However, after traveling a short distance, the vehicle lost motive power and failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the turbo. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, who determined that the turbo only required cleaning. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the torque converter resulting in damages to the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 110,000.
