TSB 19-2172 Check Engine light lit due to a rough startup condition. ODB codes indicated the vehicle had a misfire of cylinder three. Replaced 4 spark plugs and the 3rd cylinder coil pack. 2 days later the car began to overheat to low coolant levels. "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" Added 3/4 gal of coolant and took to dealership. Dealership confirmed engine was compromised due to coolant intrusion after performing the pressure test.

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion SE Ecoboost wth 1.5 engine. In December 2021, while driving a block from my home, the engine overheated and I pulled over to find no coolant. There has been no coolant leaking under my car. Coolant was added that day, but has continually needed to be refilled. My check engine light had been coming on stating the sensor 2 ignition cable was bad, but we had replaced it along with spark plugs, but it kept coming up as a bad sensor and we confirmed it wasn't a defect part, it always showed sensor 2 as the problem. I took the car to my mechanic in June 2023 and he found that the fuel injector under that sensor wasn't being fed fuel continually, but skipping. He replaced the fuel injector and discovered the coolant leak was in the engine. I paid for a new gasket, then he discovered the coolant freeze plug was cracked, so ordered a new one from Ford. After being told the part is still on back order for over 8 weeks, I called my local Ford dealership and was informed they aren't making the coolant freeze plug for the 2016 Ford Fusion Ecoboost 1.5 at this time due to quality issues. I then called Ford manufacturing and was told they had those plugs, so they sent one to my mechanic. He currently is attempting to install it but says it appears it will just create the same problem. I am reading online countless individuals with Ford vehicles from 2013 to 2019 with Ecoboost engines having a problem with coolant leaking into the engine, causing car fires and numerous dangerous issues. I have not had use of my car for 10 weeks and if this plug goes in place, I will be afraid to drive it as I'm reading about cars catching fire. All these vehicles need recalled and Ford Motor Company needs to fix these engines or provide us with safe vehicles. I am disabled and cannot afford another car and am still paying for this 2016 Fusion. I've spent a lot on rental cars and ride shares to my appointments and am basically home bound because of this.

I bought my car new at AutoNation st the end of 2015. I serviced it there the whole time I had it. The check engine light came on back in may. They said it was a spark plug. The car ran for a few weeks and the check engine light came back on. I tried getting it back into AutoNation. They wouldn't return my phone call for over a week. So I decided to take it to Spritzer in Hartville. They diagnosed it as coolant leaking into the engine cylinders due to a defective engine block. That they've known was a problem for years. Spritzer told me that they get a few in every month with the same problem. I feel Ford has sold these Echoboost engines knowingly to the public. I was told my car was out of warranty and I have to trade it in or pay $11,000 to replace the long block. My car only has 72,000 miles on it and was well taken care of. I feel Ford needs to recall these engines because if it blows up on the highway you'd lose control of the vehicle possibly.

Coolant reservoir was empty. Filled it and was low in a few days. Also started getting P302 check engine error for Cylinder 2 Misfire. That in combination with coolant leaks shows that coolant is intruding into cylinder 2. Most likely through the design grooves in Engine. This defect should be covered under a recall.

Check engine light came on as the car started riding and idling rough. Took my car to Firestone and they hooked car up to computer and pulled codes. Engine misfire in cylinder 4. They weren't confident what the issue/fix was, so they recommended that I take to the Ford dealership to have them assess. Dealing with the dealership was a nightmare and after staying on top of them for 10 days, I finally was able to get a diagnosis that it was my spark plugs. Not wanting to wait another 10 days for a fix, I took the car back to Firestone since Ford had said what the issue was. Firestone changed the spark plugs and problem was resolved. The next day, check engine came back on and was riding/idling rough. Took back to Firestone. It was a misfire in cylinder again and they changed all 4 spark plugs again thinking it might be the spark plugs. They also confirmed that the coils were not the issue. Problem was solved. Four days later, the check engine light comes back on and the car is riding rough. Took back to Firestone and they dug deeper and confirmed that coolant was leaking into the cylinder causing the misfire. They said that it is a well-known and well-documented issue with the Eco Boost engines as they have a design flaw that allows coolant to leak into the cylinder. Firestone cautioned that I needed to be careful to monitor my coolant levels as the leak into the engine will drain my levels and can cause serious engine and safety issues. They said that I would need a new engine to fix the problem as there was no other solution to stop the misfire. My car only has 79,097 miles on it! We take extremely good care and get it maintenanced regularly. I checked and there are no recalls for my car for this issue even though I can find many, many instances where others are having the same issue with this engine. Without a recall, I will be responsible for paying for a new engine even though it is a design flaw that Ford is well aware of and not an issue that I caused.

I got into an accident around May 3rd. Roughly around 11 pm to 12 am. To inform whomever is reading, none of the issues I will list have happened prior to this event. At the accident my car would not turn on, and it would not lock. As well as a piece of the car had broke off. I took my car to Mike's auto body for repairs. When the person inspecting the car had reviewed what was wrong with my 2016 Ford Fusion, I was informed part of the issue was the starter. I was informed by Nick a staff member of Mike's auto body, that the piece was replaced. After I had picked up my car on June 6, 2023 as per the receipt from my payment. The first time the event happened was on around June 6th to June 20th (I know it happened on a rainy Tuesday or Wednesday anywhere from 7am to 8am prior to Thursday June 22nd.) My car flashed "See manual" on my dash board. The air bag light had turned on. My car would not accelerate, the brakes functioned at this point, but when I pulled off the road and parked my car shook. When I had turned my car off, took out the keys, and turned it on again the problem was "resolved" and I was able to continue driving to work. I had called the auto shop and eventually left my car with the auto shop to be safe. The next event happened on Thursday June 22nd at 4:10 pm after I had picked it up from the auto shop when Nick had informed me my car was safe and nothing was reading on the scanner. (I took a picture of the dash board to show the message) and turned my car back into the auto shop. To note, the brakes did not work during this time. The next time it happened was the first time I drove my car again after picking it up from Mike's auto shop. July 1st at 12:47 pm. The same stuff happened. I recorded on video what my car was doing. My car decelerate when my foot was still on the gas, the brakes were not working, hot air out of the ac, car shaking. It happened 10+ times today (7/15/23) after leaving the dealership to fix a recall I have several videos of

Engine was overheating during a short, 5 mile drive to a local bakery. I Took it to a mechanic and they told me that coolant had leaked into the number two cylinder and messed it up so bad I needed a new engine. I got a second opinion from the Ford dealership and they told me the number one and two cylinder were damaged and I needed a new engine. The car only had 104,000 miles on it.

My check engine light starting coming on and off intermittently. After a week of this going on, I took it to a ford dealership for a diagnostic. I had taken it to auto zone prior to the appointment and their diagnostic indicated a cylinder 2 misfire. They told me it was probably a coil or spark plug that needed replacing but to follow up with the ford dealership. The ford dealer informed me at my appointment that the engine coolant was low and had been leaking into the engine. Told me it would require a short block replacement and quoted me almost $13,000!! The car has never had any problems and only has 88,000 miles. After researching this problem, ford has had numerous complaints about the safety issues this could cause and even appears to have had recalls at some point previously. If so, I never received anything and there is no active recall on my vehicle.
