I put some groceries in the backseat of my car and then the door would not close. The latch was open properly but the mechanism that keeps the latch shut seemed to be broken. I had to have someone hold the door closed while I drove home, and again hold the door when I took it into the dealership.
I tested the latch with a screw driver as the striker plate so I could see what was happening and it did close correctly, it just did not have any strength to hold itself shut.
The door latch has been recalled on numerous 2015 Ford Fusions (and other makes and models) across several separate recalls over the last few years, but my VIN was not listed as a recalled vehicle so it is not being covered. A quick search on Ford Fusion door latch recalls returns several instances, top few are:

I think its well established Ford is having issues with a door defect in multiple plants, for multiple make/models/years and I do not think that it is unreasonable to assume that this defect is apart of another batch of vehicles.
I attempted to reach out to support saying, ~'I see this is an issue Ford is dealing with in multiple situations. I think there may be another batch that is having issues, can I help provide any information to investigate? Also since this is an established Ford problem can the repair be covered and they said ~'it doesnt affect your VIN sorry'.
