Since I leased my car in July 2014, I have had a significant gas mileage issue. I noted this to the dealership not four weeks after taking possession of the car, and they shrugged it off. I had a 2012 AWD SEL, and I beat the gas mileage all the time in that car. That model had a 2.5L V-6, which was a larger engine, so I know it's not me. I know how to drive to optimize gas mileage, and I take my foot off the accelerator to coast when I can, e.g. downhill. 80% of my driving is on highways, but I've never gotten more than 21 MPG, when the car is rated at 22/25/31. The dealership even acknowledged it was getting 16.3 MPG more than a year ago, but Ford Corporate won't do anything and has brushed me off over and over.
I have numerous issues with this car, which was a special order, but this is probably the most annoying, since I did not purchase my 2012 at the end of the lease to get this one, since it was supposed to be more fuel efficient. I have been tracking the gas mileage by taking pictures of the odometer and fuel gauge since September 2014 and using gas receipts, and it never matches anywhere near the computer or what the EPA estimates are. I would be fine if it was within a few or even 5 MPG of the estimates, but it's never even 80%. The highest it ever gets to is 70%, and it usually hovers around 60%, and that's of the city MPG...when I'm driving on the highway.
My car is not a hybrid, but a Titanium AWD, so it wasn't "inflated," and I've seen other people who get much better gas mileage on their Fusions. Being bombarded with commercials about the great gas mileage irritates me to no end. I just want a new car, and I have filed a lemon law complaint.
