Started having an issue with the rear brakes making excessive noise. I took a look at the pads to discover they had completely disintegrated at 28000 miles, eating into the rotors. I use this vehicle almost exclusively for highway driving, and I usually go pretty easy on it. The dealer claimed that they've seen an issue with brake biasing on similar vehicles, and that its totally normal to need replacement at this mileage, which of course is complete bullshit. They refused to cover it under the warranty as brakes are wear items, despite the fact that rear brakes shouldn't be wearing out 5x faster than the front.
It's pretty obvious Ford is aware of their mistake because when the dealer replaced the pads/rotors they gave me documentation on the lifetime guarantee of the new rear pads, which apparently is honored at any ford dealer nationwide. My only guess is they used super soft pads to stop idiots from complaining about squeaks and coupled with bad manufacturing controls, it was a recipe for eating up the rear pads. What good is a warranty if it isn't honored against defects in craftsmanship.
