CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.
In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

- Transmission Shift Bushing 2013 Fusion - This is a simple little kit to replace the work out bushing on this poorly designed cable assembly. It is so simple, even a millennial can do it themselves. Takes about 5-10 minutes. Scrape out the old bushing, place the tool included onto the new bushing, push it through and VOILA! They're shifting in Chicago, down in New Orleans, up in NYC, and they're dancing in the streets. I think this is a part from some other application, but they've renamed it (PN) and are selling it for about 30 bucks. When I get it, I will try it out, but it's worth the 30 bucks compared to 300 for a new cable for this car. Nuff said. They also have bushings for other applications.

My story is similar to others. I was reversing out of my garage and put my car into drive but it went backwards. I hit the brakes and put the car into park. I tried moving the shifter through the other gears and it felt loose, never engaged in any of the other gears. Of course this happens on a Saturday afternoon when no auto shop is open. I call to get a tow and patiently wait for this morning to find out what it was.
In the meantime I google and find that I am not the only one with this issue and I triple check my VIN to see if my car was included in on the recall(of course its not). It was the shifter cable that snapped and no local Ford dealer has one. If my friend didn't own the shop I took it to I would be waiting til Jan 4th for the new one to come in. Lucky for me he is driving 2 hours one way to pick it up.
Ford really needs to get their sh*t together on this. This could end up putting people in a very dangerous situation.
