Back End Sliding Sideways On Black Ice
2013 Ford Fusion
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.
In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

Back of car slid sideways (fishtailing).
First week in February while travelling down south in the morning, the road was wet from melted frost. The bridges and overpasses were frozen slick with black ice. When I hit the black ice the back of the car went to the left; I turned the front wheels to the left to try to correct the skid. I was over the bridge before I skidded out of control. This happened twice at about 70 MPH with the cruise control on. Then I slowed down to about 60 or 65 MPH with the cruise control off and this happened again about five more times until the bridges thawed. One time on a longer bridge the back end skidded to the left and I turned the front to the left to correct the skid. Then the back went to the right. I turned the front to the right to correct for the skid. By this time I was over the bridge . The bridges were flat and level and straight. This was very scary. I have not been on any slippery roads since to see how the car will react. I am very worried as I live in the North where we travel a lot of slippery roads and do not want this car to slip and slide around out of control. I am afraid to drive this car on slippery roads.
I took the car to my Ford dealer and they said nothing was wrong with the car and they could not fix it.
I am afraid of this car and am not driving it in the winter.
We will be driving this car south this winter. I will have a video camera and try to get some video if we hit black ice.
