Check Engine Light On
2013 Ford Fusion
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.
In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

I purchased an extended warranty to 100000 miles for my 2013 Ford Fusion. It had numerous recalls which were all handled by the dealership, TOWNE FORD in Redwood City, CA. It was also brought in for regular service. Since I had it, why not use it, right?
At 99500 miles, while driving my wife and I to work, the car suddenly shot to high temperature, powered down and we had to crawl to park on the side of a residential street. The car would not start and had to be towed to Towne Ford where the noticed that the COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR was on recall and had failed in this case causing the engine to overheat. They replaced the sensor but never checked for damage. They gave me the car back and hoped I wouldn't have any more problems for the next 500 miles.
Shortly after, the check engine light came on saying that we have low coolant. I brought the car to an oil changers and they noted in the documentation that coolant was low. Shortly after that, the coolant alert came on again and I added fluid myself before bringing it to the same oil changers which noted that the coolant was overfilled. After this, I scheduled an appointment with TOWNE FORD. When I brought the car in, they snaked the engine and found a HEAD GASKET LEAK that requires a full engine replacement for a price tag of $8000!
I contacted Ford and opened a case and after back and forth, Ford said that they would cover $3400 towards the cost (no surprise the cost dropped as their amount equals 55% of the new cost). I would have to cover $2100. I only owe $4100 on the car.
I produced the documentation where you can easily connect the dots between the recall piece causing the overheating which caused the engine damage and based on what I know, the manufacturer is 100% responsible for any and all property damage that occurs due to a defective part. This part caused FIRES in other cars!! However, as of now, Ford is not doing what is right. I offered to give them the car in exchange to being free and clear on my loan. We will see if they accept that.
I sent them an email requesting one additional review. If they come back and are still not budging, what is my response? Bite the bullet and pay $2100 to have the car fixed and then sell it? Hold out and pursue legal action? Paying another CENT on this car really disgusts me. Options?
