CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

This is the second time in less than i years time the parking brake has engaged and on its own. It does not release unless i take it to a shop! So the whole i drive it's on! During this pandemic i now don't have enough money to pay at least another $125 plus to get it fixed. It has ruined another set of pads and the rotor on my driver side. My gas mileage sucks and my car sounds like a jalopy cuz the brakes are bad again! Why is there not a recall on this problem? I have met a few other people who continued to have the same problem. I still have 3 years left to pay for this car. I love this car for many reasons but this is getting ridiculous and expensive! Not fair!

This car is only 3 years old. I have never heard of a new car with a little over 60,000 miles having a brake line leaking from one of the lines. The brake fluid is spewing out of the line each time you hit the brakes. The guy at the Ford place told us we should not drive it. We left it with them, and had someone pick us up. My son-in-law says he has never heard of a brake line leaking in the newer cars. He says the lines have sturdy wire wrapped in a substance, and he cannot see how it would be leaking. He has a 1995 Ford truck that has over 350,000 miles on it, and it has never leaked. They own a 2004 Expedition that has 273,000 plus miles on it, and it has never had a leak. I don't think this is our problem. I think it is a manufacturer's problem, and we should not be charged for the repair.

Update from Oct 11, 2016: There was a 2" crack in the brake line near the metal end piece leaking brake fluid.

I drove the car 30 miles home from work to pick up my son at school. Got back into the car to leave the school to go home and heard a fast beep as if I had left my keys in the car. It wasn't that but instead a message appeared on the screen on the dashboard behind the steering wheel that stated the following: "Park brake malfunction-service now". I never use the electronic emergency parking so I wasn't sure why it said that.

I put the key in the ignition and the message disappeared but instead the red brake light flashed constantly. I started the car and tried to apply the parking brake in the center console hoping it would fix it but no such luck. I couldn't put the car in gear (Reverse or Drive). I called Ford Roadside Assistance because I am still under warranty. They were awesome and someone arrived within an hour to tow it to the dealership.

When the tow truck driver got in the car to see what the problem was, the brake light didn't flash, no message appeared, and he could drive it as if nothing happened. He towed it anyways because that could be unsafe and definitely inconvenient if it happened again. I talked to the dealership the next day and gave them the message I received and the details of what occurred. They got back to me and said they saw the error code and the ABS control module needed to be replaced. Everything was covered.

As a side note, I got the car back but the brakes aren't the same. You have to push the brake pedal down further. We're thinking air in the lines because based on the service report they had to bleed the brakes, etc. It wasn't just an electronic computer repair this time! It was actually a good old fashioned greasy repair where someone had to work on the brakes. We have a call into them to get that fixed.
