CarComplaints.com Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.
The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.
And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

Wife and I Bought the car in Nov. 2011. We really like the looks and fuel economy. We pretty much left it sitting in the garage for the most part untill approx. April 2012. Had to start driving due to one of older vehicles had problems. Had under 2000 miles on it when we started driving it regularly. We had a 3000 and 8000 mile (odometer) oil, filter change, and fluid level checks. Plus I've checked them in between more often. But on March 1st when I checked transmission fluid I found it a quart low. Took it in to a Ford Dealer on March 4th to verify due to the fact when I've checked it before with being a new car the fluid was so translucient (clear, clean, new fluid) it looked full. But when I checked it this time of course the fluid was more red was able to read it very clearly. What I'm getting at here apparently the car only had 8 quarts of fluid in tranny when shipped from factory. Requires 9 qrts. and the technicians missed it. After the dealer I took it to added some fluid the car had better excelleration and shifting. You see I'm use to driving 6 cyl. with automatics so I thought the way the car was driving was normal. Over the weekend before taking it to the dealer I was rereading the transmisson section in owners manual and found that the car should not be driven in tempatures above 50 degrees F when the fluid level is in the add range. It also states something that fluid should never have to be added. Well, low and behold It was being driven last year during the spring, summer and fall. I'll be getting a oil and filter change done this week. Yes, at the Ford dealership. Still trust them over other service centers. I Checked the fluid levels this weekend March 17, it appears the coolant level is not where its suppose to be. I'll see what happens. Check your fluids. Either on your 1st or second oil change ask the service manager if the technician will show you how to check your fluids levels. That way you know its getting done and that you saw the technician do it. Then periodacally ask to watch the tech. The cars are suppose to be checked when the dealer's recive the new cars.
