CarComplaints.com Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.

The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.

And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

Had driven about 1 mile at 35mph when the wrench light illuminated on the dashboard. Immediately, the car had no forward power and started bucking and jumping. Pulled off the road and shut the car off. After sitting for a few minutes while I looked up what the wrench indicated, I started the car again. The wrench light was off and the car ran fine. Needless to say, I now an skeptical of the car's performance being trustworthy.

DRIVING ON BUSY HIWAY AND car went into limp mode and pushed on gas and nothing. Happend 3-4 times. Took it to Ford dealership after finding info on throttle body recall and they replaced for free. 2 wks later driving on busy interstate and same thing went into limp mode slowing down with lots of traffic, people honking at me and almost caused an accident. Happened 4 times coming home. Took back to ford dealership and they charge me $100 for diagnostic and give me estimate for $792.10 on top of diagnostic charge.they said it is the vapor canister purge solenoid and vapor canister. from info i can find replacing this would not help my problem. I bought car 2 months ago and don't know what to do next. help....

I just read about Ford's "Customer Satisfaction Program" but it has already expired (Jan 31, 2015) . Does that mean I'm on my own on getting my electronic throttle body fixed? My "Wrench Light" came on this week. Will my local dealer (Santa Margarita, CA ph# 949-459-3147) still honor this? I read about a consumer getting help from your company:

"After reading on Internet how several others had encountered similar problems, I contacted carcomplaints.com and spoke to Anita. She looked up the VIN for my car and found that what I was encountering was a problem with the electronic throttle and that a Ford dealership would fix the problem free of charge. Anita was most helpful, courteous and professional in finding that my problem could be fixed under a "customer satisfaction program" and even calling the dealership in my town so that I could get if fixed. Thanks so much, Anita!"

Can the same thing be done for me? Any kind of help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Update from Jan 18, 2016: took the car to the dealer and they fixed it free of charge. however, they offered no apology. they claimed they mailed out a notification, but when i told them i'd never received it, they just coldly said, "you should have." told management about the poor customer service and she offered a complimentary oil change, which, by the way, was done WITHOUT ANY PAPERWORK FOR ME TO SIGN. they just told me everything was fine and didn't even offer a vehicle checklist as they usually do with a paid oil change. ridiculous. to top it all off, they sent me at least 5 emails asking me to evaluate their service even after i sent it in.

don't want to do business with them again.
