CarComplaints.com Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.

The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.

And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

Episode 2 of my brother’s car being a piece of sh*t, this time his AC blew at less than 100k miles! How many things have to break on these things before they replace them or issue refunds to people? Don’t get me wrong, I love Ford, but this one specific kind of Fusion is the worst car they have ever made! He lives farther south than me where it averages 5-10 degrees F hotter in summer, so he needs all the AC he can get, especially with small children!

During certain hot summer days, the AC will blow HOT hair as if you have the heater on. The AC will work only during the early morning and at night, THE AC will not blow cold air during high temperatures. I have been dealing with this problem for years during the summer.

This is an ongoing problem with the 2012 Ford Fusion. It works, then it doesn't, seems to be when it sits in hot sun. Don't think they know how to fix it. Happened last year, had to take in spur of the moment because would work then blow hot air. Cost 300 bucks for that and 300 to reprogram check engine light for vapor leak. Blowing hot air again this year. Does anyone know how to get a recall or how to repair? Obviously the dealer has no clue.

We've had this problem "fixed" so many times it's ridiculous. We've paid over a thousand dollars to have it repaired and then it breaks again. The last time I told the dealer he had to fix it and I had to argue for an hour before he agreed to not charge me again for a problem they simply can't fix. I'm extremely frustrated and I live in Florida, so I need air conditioning.

If car is setting in the sun or a hot place, A/C will blow hot. open the hood and touch A/C lines and they are cold. A/C is working as it should, but the blend door is in the heater position, even though the control knob is set to A/C. I believe the HVAC module does not operate properly when it is hot. Semi conductors have that as one of their problems. I believe Ford knows they have this problem, but they are not going to fix it so they can sell more parts. This has happened more than once. I have checked out the blend door actuator, their is nothing wrong with it.

My 2012 Ford Fusion is also having air conditioning problems. In fact it is no longer working now. I was told to wait for a recall. It will cost me between $500-$1000 to get it fixed on my own. OMG! Any other options?

I brought my vehicle to the dealership to take care of the recall for the power steering unit. I initially had to pay 849.00 to have the power steering unit repaired, then a month later the recall came out. So I figured while it's back in to upgrade the software of the power steering unit, I would have them check out the A/C. They advised me that the temperature door is no good and the hvac module is fried. They want $1100 to fix it. I've been checking to see if the a/c problem is/was a recall. It doesn't make sense to me that this just goes bad so soon.

My sisters 99 Explorer doesn't have the issues I've been having with a 2012.. The thing that upsets me the most is I have to wait for Ford Motor to authorize my refund to the dealership, then they will in turn pay me. Wait a minute!!! I'm the customer, why don't you pay me right now, like I had to pay you $849 in order to drive my car off your property after you fixed it. then you wait on the money from the big glass house....Luckily the summer hasn't been a scorcher yet...

2ND TIME A/C HAS MESSED UP! 9 months ago my a/c started blowing out cold for a few minutes and then went hot.. replaced expansion valve and blend door motor back then... fixed the problem temporarily for 9 months and now it did it again. This time they replaced the HVAC CONTROL/HEAD MODULE. They said my buttons weren't working right. So far so good, Hoping it's permanently fixed this time!

(1st time a/c went out)

A/c would blow cold for a few and then start blowing out HOT HEAT! Tech found expansion valve isn't opening and closing properly as well as Blend Door Motor not working at all like it's suppose to. Replaced EXPANSION VALVE AND BLEN AIR DOOR MOTOR.

THIS WORKED FOR 9 MONTHS AND THEN WENT OUT AGAIN!!
