CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

I entered the cvs parking lot and made a right turn and proceeded to enter the open parking space. I stepped on the brake to shift to the park position when all of a sudden the car jolted forward accelerating in a forceful manner( like it had a mind of its own). I keep pressing down on the brake but the car would not stop and keep going straight and hit the fence on front of the parking space causing the car to bounce back. Despite my afford to stop the car with the brake it did not work. The air bag deployed and smoke and a burning smell started to come out of the car, I got out of the car immediately. I was lucky that I was not on the road and hit another car or a person.I know the my car has a problem.

Vehicle was being driven slowly to parking area when it suddenly accelerated and engine kept revving up and it lunged forward and crashed into a large tree, demolishing the front end. The Ford parts performed exactly as they should have, preventing damage to the windshield or cabin area, but airbags did not deploy. The driver was not injured but was shaken up by the accident. Upon inspection by the body shop and mechanic, the linkage was broken and damaged and needs further investigation to see if a defect in the linkage was a cause or contributing factor. Damage to the front end is substantial and estimated in excess of $8,000 with the seen damage thus far.
