CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

Car just stops while driving. Happened 5 times in the last 5 months. Most recent incident was 10/04/2017. Thought that this problem was related to my power steering assembly that was replaced last week, but apparently this is a different problem altogether. Driving 50 mph on a single lane road and car just stops. Turned key to off, restarted, drove about 2 miles, stopped at a stop sign, and car lost power. Again turned key to off, turned back on and car was driveable. Happened twice in may, same scenario, driving about 45-50 mph, car just stopped, drove about 1 mi., stopped at a traffic light and car just shut off. In early September, happened on deceleration approaching a stop light.

This issue corresponds to NHTSA action number: PE13003, electronic throttle body malfunction. I just took my Fusion in to have the part replaced again. The first time it happened was at 50K miles, the second time it happened was at 100K miles, and I can guess when it's going to happen again. They also just replaced the part. I asked them about the software update that's listed in NHTSA remedy write up, but they told me there is no software update in their system. Merely replacing one defective part with an identical defective part is not the solution, it just kicks the problem down the road.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that there was a failure in which the vehicle experienced intermittent stalling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure, although they had been notified several times. The vehicle continued to stall and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the throttle body, but the contact was uncertain if the oem part would fail again. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no recommendation nor a solution. There was no clarification if there was a newly designed part or the same part that had previously failed. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

2011 Ford Fusion SE had a transmission problem while it was still under warranty (Nov. 2013). Our vehicle recently had trouble accelerating and shifting between gears. We took our car to a mechanic and he informed us that 3 gears in the transmission broke and we need a new transmission. This car only has 55K miles on it and this is the second transmission problem we've had!! the mechanic said he's never seen a transmission go this early, but reading reviews online of 2011 Ford Fusion, it seems like this is more common than we'd like to think.

Csp 13N03 as previously reported etb problems caused my car to abruptly drop power/RPM to ~1000rpm. Later identified issue to be related to etb and took to my Ford dealer expecting new software and/or etb replacement per 13N03. Dealer replaced but then begged off requesting I pay warranty repair cost of $122 because "manual transmission" vehicles and those not assembled in Mexico were not covered. I am absolutely certain that my issue was exactly that covered by 13N03 and feel that having the power loss "limp mode" occur in a manual transmission vehicle actually put me at more risk because of the greater speed loss due to the direct connected drive path. Luckily it was late at night on a less traveled road allowing me to coast off safely onto the shoulder. I paid the $122 since they had already done the work before realizing that my car was not covered, and the throttle body alone would have cost me $75+, but I cannot understand how this is not a full-fledged recall and doesn't cover every vehicle with this type of etb? all this because of what sounds like incorrect/insufficient motor connection plating and/or bulb grease (contact enhancer)

Lost power after momentary stumble while mildly accelerating on straight level city road around 35mph. Damp cool evening after much rain preceding days. Occurred about 2 miles after starting from cool engine (2-3 hours @ 60F) thought it had stalled but noted ~1000rpm, but not responding to throttle pedal at all? clutched-in (6-speed manual) and coasted to stop, idle holding, but never responding to pedal? noted wrench symbol glowing on dash. Wished I had my obd-II monitor in the car! turned car off, removed key, opened door (to kill accessory power). Closed door, counted to 20 and restarted. It started a bit hard and stumbled a little initially, but the wrench was gone and I had a working throttle again. It seemed like it may have minimally stumbled a bit on the 2-3 miles home as well, although I was driving it very gently, and possibly overly aware. Traveled lightly used roads in case it acted up again. Once home I went in, grabbed my obd-II test device and hooked it up. No codes" no mil codes, no pending codes, no permanent codes" went in and began web search and found Ford etb and csp=13N03 investigation and mitigation agreement. Wrote this, and will discuss with dealer tomorrow.

I was pulling up slowly behind two cars at a red light when my engine accelerated with my foot firmly on the brake. My car began to inch forward toward the car in front of me. I put the car in neutral and the acceleration continued. I put the car in park and once again the acceleration continued. I then turned the key off and the engine shut down with my car ending up a foot away from a car with a woman and two children in it. I went online and found other cases of this happening to other people with 2011 Ford Fusion. I took the car to my dealer and they said they could not find anything wrong. This is the second time this has happened to me with this car. I was on a busy four lane highway both times.

While driving at 60 miles per hour my vehicle decelerate in rush hour traffic, miles away from home. I was able to put my emergency flashers on and move over to the shoulder before my car completely lost power. I had a tool light come on the dash and the car was still on but no power. I turn the engine completely off for about T 1 minute and then restart my car. I was able to safely make it home. On my grandchildren first day of school, while picking up at 1 of 3 schools on the way to the second school my car decelerated just before a train track during rush hour once again. This time my engine light came on the dash. Following the same technique I restarted my car, made it across the track only for it to quit again. My grand baby was worried and needless to say so was I.. using the same technique we were able to make it safely home. Requiring another vehicle to go pick up at the other two school late.... please tell me I shouldn't be afraid to drive my car because right now I am I attempted to perform a vehicle health check but it want allow me too. Please say there is a solution to this ongoing problem surely Ford is aware of this problem and there's a recall and I'm unaware right

I was driving on the highway when my Ford Fusion lost all power, like it ran out of gas. Of course this happened when I was passing 2 semis with cars in front of me and behind me. Luckily I was able to get off the side of the highway. It just sat there idling very badly, I turned it off, turned it back on and I was able to drive it home after that. After doing some research online, this seems to be a common problem that should be recalled because it could definitely cause a pretty bad accident.

My car has had a few recalls. I brought it to watertown Ford and they did not fix it properly. I bought it at enterprise car sales, woburn MA. They were supposed to check it and it was not certified like they promised. From the first month the car had issues. It keeps showing the wrench and not accelerating properly. I can't afford to keep fixing it. I would like Ford to buy back the car. For more than 11,000.00.

Began having problems with this vehicle the second month after purchase. The first incident was steering wheel locked and I could not control the direction of the car. I ended up on the left side of the road off the shoulder before I could stop it. It happened on several occasions. Car dies for no reason. I end up having it towed or restarted by charging battery. The battery always has a full charge. Also I have been shopping and get in the car to start it and it will not start. Door handles would not work from inside. Windows would not open. Had to force window down enough to open from the outside. Had front door handle assemble replaced had transfer case resealed horrible smell, new tires 3 times since it was purchased had rear drive shaft replaced, fuel pump replaced had taken it to Ford just recently for what I deemed was computer problems, of course they could not find anything wrong. I was told by my mechanic the last time I had new tires put on the car that I would need new rims soon. The rims are eroding from the inside out. I have several invoices for work that was done and a few more I can't locate at this time. I would like to send them all to you. Purchase car 12/1/12.
