CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

I'M NOT SURE HOW TO HANDLE OR ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. BUT IT IS VERY ANNOYING AND NERVE WRECKING. SOMETIMES I'M SCARED TO DRIVE FAR ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE MY KIDS ON BOARD. MY CAR WILL RUN FINE ALL DAY, THEN IF I SIT IN THE CAR FOR A WHILE MY CAR JUST LOSES POWER AND MY BATTERY GOES DEAD. BUT I CAN TURN THE KEY IGNITION ON HALF WAY AND THE LIGHTS COME ON AND RADIO PLAYS FINE BUT THE CAR WON'T START. IT MAKES A WEIRD SOUND LIKE AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE. WENT AND GOT MY CAR DIAGNOSED AND EVERYTHING CAME OUT FINE. BATTERY FULLY CHARGED, TRANSMISSION GOOD CONDITION AND ALTERNATOR IS GOOD.. I'M JUST SO OVER IT.

Car went in to the dealer on March 16, 2015. The tech and service rep said they have never seen the problem, yet its all over the internet. They security system would also engage and prevent the car from running. They service rep said it wouldn't be safe to drive and gave me a loaner. Car was there 6 weeks while tech and engineers at Ford tried to figure out. It finally came down to a bad wire that fried the PCM and control module. I think this should be a bulletin or recall and be covered by Ford. I intend to go after Ford for reimbursement of my cost. NHTSA should also be aware of this issue where security system causes car not to run.
