Back in December 2014 the car would intermittently not start or be slow to start. I would have to get a jump. The engine light would come on also. Then it just stopped and worked fine until just last month it started doing it again and again the engine light came on. Then last week the car started smelling like a sewer factory and the battery exploded. I was told by my mechanic (not by Ford) that these cars have alternators with the voltage regulators made inside and that they have a problem sticking. This is what is causing these batteries to drain and explode.
Starting not cranking one day. Got a jump off.
No more problems for a little while. Then out the blue, it won't crank again.
Get another jump off. Fine for a while.
The cycle repeats for several months.
Finally this week, I had to buy a new battery.
The auto parts guy stated that it shouldn't have worn out so soon.
Its only 3 years old.
While cleaning out my car for a road trip, I had my radio on and the doors opened. All of a sudden, the radio went off. I check my lights and they were still working. I attempted to start the car and no go. Is this some cheap battery they put in the car? It seems to drain pretty quickly. Do you remember when you sat in your car, for what seemed like an eternity, listening to the radio and the battery never just ran out of juice?
This was just annoying as I was going out to take my kids to school and the car wouldn't start. Thank goodness I had another car to take them because had I not, I really would have been very mad!
I called Ford Roadside Assistance at 6:30 am Jun 31 2011. They are subcontracting AMA. They told me they will come within 8 hours. They never come even after 24 hours, and still I having my car not functioning. Each time I call them they tell me that AMA is very busy.
A friend of mien how have a direct subscription with AMA called then pretending that he has a problem with his card, they came to him after only 30 minutes!!
