CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

At least three times on separate occasions, ABS warning lights came on and engaged suddenly while there was a loss of braking power. Brakes were spongy and could barely stop the car. Trouble codes C00002 C0022, C1012, U0415 and U30000 codes showed. My mechanics checked my mechanical brake systems and all were fine and found no problem. My mechanic thinks a computer problem is the issue. I took car to local Ford dealer and they found no braking problem.

During a Ford/Lincoln dealer inspection during an oil cahnge on September 16,2015, my wife was notified that the rear brake pads had approximately 2 mm left and needed immediate service. The vehicle was purchased new in febuary 2011 and at 4.5 years old has 23,544 miles, this seemed very unusual. According to the service advisor/service manager the front brakes looked fine. Both sets of rear brakes were in very bad shape ( rotors, and pads). Rotors were pitted and scored with uneven wear that were beyond repair. 1 rotor was scored on the back side with two circular gouges several mm deep. According to the service advisor this unusal wear is generally caused by corrosion causing the calipers not to function properly. It appeared to be something wrong causing uneven, damage to the rotors. The entire rear brakes had to be replaced. Not at all expected for this age and mileage car. After voicing my concerns the dealer offered me a 10% discount on the repairs. The worst part was the vehicle was at the dealership in may of 2015. At that time no significant wear was documented. In fact the rear brake lining was documented at 5mm or greater. Since the last service in may the vehicle has only been driven approximately 1200 miles. The vehicle is driven on light highway and city driving. I also own a 2013 F150 with 22,000 miles and have no signs of needing brakes anytime soon. There are several comments on NHTSA, automobile, and Ford's owners websites with similar symptoms. In fact a NHTSA complaint id number: 10610434 described almost an identical set of circumstances.

Upon starting my car after being parked overnight, the "service advanc trac message came on along with red brake light, ABS light, traction control, and check brake system message. Ford service tech performed diagnostic and concluded ids test code B1342, internal fault in control module, needs ABS control module at cost of $860!! after doing some research online, I find that this is a very common problem with the Ford vehicles. This should be recalled!!

I am filing a formal complaint against Ford Motor Company about sudden and repeated surging occurring on my 2011 Ford Fusion. The first time the car surged as I was braking, the car suddenly surged forward. The surge threw the car approximately 10 feet before it slowed. I was able to turn onto a side street and into a parking lot to turn off the car. After quieting down I was able to start the car, making sure that there was plenty of room between me and whatever car was ahead of me when I braked at a traffic light or stop sign. After the second time it surged, as I was again braking, I had the car checked by a Ford dealership service department that was unable to find anything wrong with the car or its settings. The car did not surge when it was test-driven by the service personnel. Today, Tuesday March 3, 2015, is the third time the car has surged. I was parking the car when, as I was backing into a parking space, the car surged forward.. I turned the steering to avoid the truck parked ahead of me. While there was no damage to the truck, my passenger side rear-view mirror was severely damaged and must be replaced. The Ford service center where I took the car has estimated that it will.cost over $400 to replace the mirror. In addition there are a number of scrapes along the side of the car which a body shop will have to repaint. This is a serious safety issue. Fortunately there have not been any personal injuries as a result of the surges to date but I am very nervous about driving the car. I have now seen identical complaints about this happening with Ford Fusion on this and other automobile complaint sites. This is a factory or product defect that needs to addressed by Ford Motor Company before someone is seriously or fatally injured.

First my brakes were just going bad, which was strange because I don't think they were on for over a year yet, I started hearing grinding and a loud thumping noise. Than the mechanic changed brake pads right rotor and caliper, but the brakes wouldn't bleed. Than I took the car to Ford and they couldn't bleed them either, and no one can figure out what the actual problem is. Now when I brake my pedals go to the floor and I here clicking. When I looked up brakes with my car year and model there were people with similar issues.

After starting the vehicle and putting the car in reverse with the brakes engaged, the vehicle kept reversing even with the brakes completely depressed. The brakes engaged after a couple of seconds and after that they worked normal. This issue has happened 3 more times since this first incident and the pattern has always been the same.

I entered the cvs parking lot and made a right turn and proceeded to enter the open parking space. I stepped on the brake to shift to the park position when all of a sudden the car jolted forward accelerating in a forceful manner( like it had a mind of its own). I keep pressing down on the brake but the car would not stop and keep going straight and hit the fence on front of the parking space causing the car to bounce back. Despite my afford to stop the car with the brake it did not work. The air bag deployed and smoke and a burning smell started to come out of the car, I got out of the car immediately. I was lucky that I was not on the road and hit another car or a person.I know the my car has a problem.

During a Ford dealer inspection (customer satisfaction program throttle body calibration) on July 10,2014, was notified that the rear brake pads had approximately 2 mm left and needed immediate service. I am first owner and at 3.5 years old and 26,600 miles, this seemed very wrong. Took car to my local mechanic. Front brakes looked fine. Both rear brakes were in very bad shape (calipers, rotors, and pads). Rotors were pitted and scored with uneven wear that were beyond repair. 1 rotor was scored with a circular gouge several mm deep. Calipers not functioning properly and appeared to be sticking causing uneven, major damage to the rotors. Entire rear brakes had to be replaced. Not at all expected for this age and mileage car. Light highway and city driving. No car I have ever owned has had brake problems like this even at 8 years. Numerous comments on automobile and Ford's owners websites with similar symptoms.

I entered my car to leave work and started the car and was able to pull straight through without backing up - when I tried to slow for the exit of the parking lot the brake pedal went to the floor and the braking power was barely existent. I tested it in the parking lot again at a slow speed and the brakes improved but were still not working as they should have been. I then proceeded to carefully get the car to the dealership but halfway there they started working again. Dealership was not able to identify an issue or couldn't replicate it. Upon receiving my car back they operated as intended for a couple days before it did the same thing again. I took it to the dealership where the car was for an entire week. Dealership experienced the issue but couldn't clearly identify the culprit for the issue. They ended up manually fabricating a device to test the brake hydraulics. They replaced the brake hydraulic pump with a used unit and they claimed that resolved the issue. They seemed to work fine for a couple days after that and I then moved to another state and was out of town for an extended time for work. Upon return at the end of the first week of April the brakes exhibited the same issue. After a couple minutes of the car running and idling around my development the braking force came back. I did not have the opportunity to take the car to the dealership after this event and I was gone for the following two weeks for work. Upon return around the middle of April the brakes exhibited the same issue of the brake pedal going to the floor. Again after a few minutes and idling around my development the braking force was back up. I was again out of town for the last two weeks because of work but plan to take the car to the dealership to be serviced tomorrow. I am worried that the dealership won't be able identify the issue.

Traveling at 55mph, when the service power steering now and advance trac light came on, , no power steering, ,made it home, , tried it again in the morning still no power steering, had it towed to a Ford dealer, who said they cleared the codes and cant duplicate the problem, , the 4 codes stored were P07ae, U0415, , C1277, , C1963, , we live a rural area with no guard rails and between 20 to 150 foot drop offs, , if this would have happened to the wife, , which is her car to drive, , she wouldn't be able to steer this vehicle, , took me all I had to get it home, , not very confidant on letting her drive this car, , Ford needs to resolve this problem.
