CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't
Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.
2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

After being deployed for six months I came back to my car. It was started fairly regularly. It was even driven for about a week or so while my wife's car was in the shop. It was on E when I picked it up, no telling how long it was there. So I immediately went to put gas in it. Filled it up, started no problem, drove about 20 feet then it shut off. It took a few crank and some time for it to start back up again. I had to give it some gas because it sounded as if it wanted to cut off again. No check engine light came on. So I figured it had something to do with it not actually being driven regularly.
A week goes by, I fill it up again started up with no problem again. This time I put it in drive and it died as I was giving it some gas to move. It took even more cranks and time to start it again. Again, giving it gas as it started because it sounded as if it wanted to die once it finally started. And still no check engine light. Took it to shop see what they could do. they had it all day but could no recreate the problem. Because this problem only existed when I filled up. So I did my own research found out that it's likely the purge valve. Bought it from AutoZone for $45.00.(the new does not look EXACTLY like old one, as the electrical connection is pointed in a different direction, still fits and works fine.) Found where the existing one was removed it. And installed the new one. All I needed was a 8mm socket to remove the two bolts. I am no mechanic by any means. I could have had my wife do it. The hardest part is maybe the white collar that connects the hose. You have to push the tabs in and pull the white collar out. I don't know how much a shop would charge to install. But I saved what the amount was by doing it myself.
