CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't

Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.

2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving, the contact had to make a left turn and the steering wheel inadvertently became difficult to maneuver. In addition, the front driver's and passenger's doors inadvertently locked. The contact had to roll down the driver and passenger windows to exit. Also, the steering fault warning indicator illuminated on and off. The contact called Ford of mansfield at (419) 529-1800 (1515 w 4th St, mansfield, oh 44906), but the dealer was closed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

Attempted to exit the drivers door to obtain fuel. Internal door latch failed and would not open door. Had to lower drivers window and use outer door latch to open door. I believe this to be a significant safety issue as it would hinder or prevent egress from the vehicle in the case of a fire or flood, especially if the electrical system were disabled.

I stopped the car to close the gas fill lid, engine running, went to get back in and all doors were locked, they locked themselves. It was over 90 degrees out, lucky I had my cell phone to call my wife to bring her keys so I could get back in. If my grandkids had been the car, it could have been a scary problem.

Took car for oil change. Noticed after car wasn't locking on driver's side. Passenger then noticed interior driver's side door handle was cracked and not flushed with door. Door no longer locks essentially leaving my car unprotected from theft.

2010 Ford Fusion purchased in December 2010 continues to have the hood released when driving. The vehicle has been taken back to pauli Ford many times since I owned the car.....without success in fixing the problem, I have informed pauli Ford/St. Johns Michigan and also Ford Motor Co. Of the problem and that my concern is that while driving an accident may occur. The last date the hood opened is below but the problem has continued since the vehicle was owned.

I own a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid with 7,722 miles. Yesterday, while traveling on the interstate (in sd) at 80 mph, the right front door spontaneously opened. (there seemed to be a safety latch similar to one on the hood of a car, so it popped open and the interior "lock/unlock" switches opened but the door itself did not open any distance.) we checked the lock mechanism and also tried to recall if we could have done anything to cause the door to open but could find/recall nothing.

The hood on my 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid unlatches itself at interstate highway speed. The safety catch has successfully restrained the hood from flying open completely. There have been four incidents with three different drivers since the car was delivered. The date below was the first incident.
