After finding out this is a common problem with the Fusion, Ford will have to replace the transmissions. It is the only solution. This is to common in this vehicle to be a fluke. Ford knows that. If they are the company they claim to be, they will make it right. I knew I should have bought the '88 RX-7 I saw while searching for my last vehicle!

Fusion SE 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

Initially, when I purchased my Ford Fusion I periodically had to take it back to Darcars monthly for transmission issues. Mr. Goldberg assured me there was nothing wrong with transmission on numerous visits. Of course, I have had the transmission flushed, regular oil changes and tune ups done to the vehicle. However, when the engine light first came on I took it to a shop to have them do a diagnostic and they could find nothing wrong. Because it was not staying on it would come on and go off. It was not until I had to replace the water hose pump. This is when the light stayed on consistently. Now, I have a diagnostic done on it and the report comes back with the solenoid is stuck open and will not close.

Fusion SE 2.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,000 miles

Took car to mechanic for oil change and sticker. My wrench light was on as well so I had them hook it up to a diagnostic machine. It didn't throw a code. So I took it to Ford thinking that it might be the throttle body because it was shifting hard and would go into limp mode. Nope, NOT the throttle body, it's the transmission! Yup that's right, I need a new transmission. Still owe on the loan.

Had to drive it home and didn't think I was going to make it. Car was worse. I was told it was going to cost about $10,000 to fix. The car is not even worth that much. Not to mention, it's a MAZDA transmission!!! I will never buy a Ford again. I have opted to replace the transmission with a used one with 40,000 miles on it. Hopefully it will last at least another three years. Going to cost $2,000. That is my best option at this time.

Fusion SE 2.3L Duratec 23 I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,000 miles

Car always shifted bad. Turns out the solenoids in the transmission were not working correctly and they had to be replaced. I told them to replace the entire transmission since the warranty was almost up and the car was only about a year old. They said they would but, who knows if they actually did. They had the car for a two weeks and didn't offer a loaner car for the warranty work. This was our first Ford and will be our last. The quality on the car has been awful. See my complaint about the dashboard peeling away because of the inferior Mexican glue (the car is built in Mexico). Was never a Ford fan before and now I remember why. Car still doesn't shift they way I think it should.
