I noticed while turning and going over bumps a groaning/squeaking sound. I thought it was my suspension going out or a belt that was slipping. Turns out that this model of Ford Fusion is notorious for the lower control arms (front and back) going out and needing to be replaced. My rear lower control arms were still good, but were recommended to be replaced as well (I declined). As soon as the lower control arms in the front were replaced, the sound immediately disappeared...$850 later.
I'm grateful that the lead mechanic looking at my car knew what it was right off the bat, but he made it seem like he had already seen this issue many times before. Since this is a known issue with this model, how is it not something that Ford has recalled yet?
