The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag casing lifted and was separating from the dashboard without warning. The vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics, but was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving approximately 60 mph with the cruise control engaged, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle lunged forward. The speed increased to 70 mph without warning. The failure recurred on three other occasions. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. While driving 69 mph with the cruise control engaged, the contact tapped the brake pedal and the vehicle accelerated. He depressed the brake pedal again with greater force, but the vehicle accelerated again. In addition, the engine revved and the rpms increased. As a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. Neither of the vehicles sustained major damage and there were no injuries. Through research, he discovered that this was a common failure and believes that a recall should be issued. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer or a mechanic. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 21,000.
