Fusion ES 2.3L

ABS action occurred a year ago when I stopped and ran over a pothole, brakes went to the floor. Over the next couple of days the brakes returned to normal. It has happened a few times since. The last time, the pedal did not return to it's normal firmness. Tried to have the brakes bled. Just spent $350 replacing the rear pads, rotors and calipers.... brake pedal still goes all the way to the floor. I have to pump my brakes every time I stop. This is a known issue and Ford should issue a recall.

Fusion SE 4 cyl

The ABS failed as I was driving on the expressway on a rainy day, as soon as I hit the brakes and felt the ABS kick in, I felt something let go and the brake pedal sank all the way down to the floor, very soft. I was able to get home, and stop the car but the brake pedal was soft, sinking to the floor, so I had to be extremely careful. This happened during the last week of October. I was without my car for two solid months. My husband tried to repair it (replace ABS Module/HCU), but ended up with defective parts, waited until another part was shipped, also spent money to purchase a scanner, then we decided to take it to a mechanic. I don't understand all of the details but I believe it has something to do with bleeding the brakes, this is not working out how it should. The mechanic did not know what to do either, my car sat on his lot for two weeks. From what I understand, the car is in a drive-able state but I have since purchased a new vehicle.

Update from Mar 27, 2018: The car is not driveable again, not sure what the problem is but it's back to spongy brakes. I had to purchase a new vehicle because of this issue, the car has been off the road since this happened, November of 2017!!! This is complete bullshit, I cannot understand why the investigation is still pending when everyone knows that there is a major brake issue with Ford Fusions, and not only a mechanical issue, but a life threatening safety issue. This is brakes we're talking about - someone has to die for Ford to turn this into an actual recall!!! The car is sitting on our property and there's nothing we can do about this, can't sell it like this, can't drive it, can't do anything with it.

At random, the ABS controller can fail rendering the brakes virtually useless. The ABS controller and associated parts have to be replaced each time this happens. Called three Ford dealers and they told me the parts where about $2300 not including labor. My mechanic snagged a used ABS controller from a salvage yard. Parts and labor ran about $1200 because he had to bleed the entire brake system because the failure causes air to leak into the brake system. Ford will not issue a recall for the problem. Now I am stuck with a car that is unsafe. I won't sell it to someone else because I don't want it on my conscience. I won't let my wife drive the car. The problem could/probably will happen again multiple times. This is the last Ford I will ever buy!!!!! This is just one of about ten expensive problems I have had with the car. I bought it new, baby it, and it only has about 62,000 miles on it.
