Due to rougher than desired riding, I decided it was time to replace my front struts and rear shocks. I bought them from Auto Zone and was sure to get the best Gabriel made. After installation by a local mechanic (I've used many time before) and driving for about a month...a loud noise (sounded like something heavy was loose in the trunk) began to come from the rear of the car. Long story, made short...after many weeks of troubleshooting and failing to resolve the issue...I took it to my FORD dealer (from whom I bought the vehicle new). It took them 2-1/2 days to find the problem...the rear shocks were not installed at the 118-degree inclination as noted in the FORD mechanic's manual for this model vehicle. Now I have to pay an additional $360 for the removal of the shocks and installation of new shocks (because the new ones I bought have been damaged because of the mis-information). Auto Zone and all other after-market retailers need to have these "special" notes from the manufacturer and give the information to the customer so the parts will be properly installed.
