The contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. While starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal shaking noise. The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate and continued to drive at a reduced speed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition and power control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.

On approximately May 12, 2010 as I parked my 2007 Ford Fusion in parking lot of convenient store I was unable to remove my key from the ignition. I noticed my steering wheel would not lock. I returned home and my husband made sure the vehicle was in park and still the key would not turn all the way back so that the wheel could lock and key could be removed. He disconnected my battery post and then tried to turn the key backwards and this is the only way the key would turn back enough to lock the wheel and be removed. I called a local Ford dealer and was told they did not have any reports of the Fusion but did have reports about another model. I would like to have this reported because this can be costly. I am now convinced.

I was unable to remove the key from the ignition. A bit of research revealed that this could be due to a faulty part in the gear shifter. After messing around with the shifter for several minutes, it finally locked fully into park and I was able to remove the key.
