Ran over a bump while turning at around 15-20mph and the ABS kicked in, and immediately my pedal went to the floor. It has never returned and it's been over two years. I still have brakes for regular, daily driving but I have to keep my seat moved up so I can even engage the brakes! I've had an incident where I tried to stop all of the sudden and they just were not strong enough to do so. Ended up having to veer off the road into a pole to avoid a fatal collision. After $3400 in repairs to my car, I get back in and the problem isn't fixed. It remains, like an evil spirit. Repair shop and auto insurance company said they can't do anything about it unless I pay it out of pocket. Went to my brother (certified mechanic) and he said it's most likely the master cylinder. Got that replaced, wrong. Same problem. Less money. I won't let any one else drive my car, and I won't let children or animals in it because of this problem. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS FORD!

This had been a repeat issue (happened about 4 times before going in). I would hit a bump or pothole while also pressing the break. There would be a brief sound of the ABS kicking in, followed by a sudden and alarming loss of brake pressure. While pressing the brakes, there would be a moment where back pressure will be felt, then would pass that threshold and fully pressing the brake to the floor would be necessary to stop the vehicle. This would continue to occur for some time (usually the duration of the drive) and repeatedly pumping the brakes while stopped might return it to normal functionality.

It's worth noting that the brakes perform normally under normal driving conditions. Here in Michigan, where the construction cone mine as well be our state flag, bumps and potholes are about as common and cracks in a sidewalk, having a problem activated by bumps turns every road into a minefield. This problem is pretty bad in that it would be very dangerous to have your brakes suddenly lose pressure during a stop.

The lines, brake fluid, calipers, rotors, ABS Module, and Master Cylinder were all inspected. Eventually the MC was replaced and the problem has not occurred since, although more driving will be needed to say it was repaired completely.
