Purchased the car used, transmission had a serious leak two months after, and the driving gear is not engaged after I shift to drive. I had to press the gas pedal until the transmission making a clunk noise to get the vehicle moving. Aside from that, the car couldn't shift right. Ford dealer fixed the the leak for free but they refuse to give any solution to the transmission. No wonder Ford is going to stopping making those mid size sedans, they are just a pile of junk.

This car was amazing with zero problem for the last 10 years. With no symptoms, the transmission just failed.

While driving the car on the freeway it randomly shifts into neutral an orange wrench symbol lights up on the dashboard, I have no acceleration power which causes my speed to drop to 35 MPH and when I come to a complete stop the car idles extremely rough and makes a terrible grinding sound. I have to turn the car off, power it back on, and then I'm able to speed up again to full speed like nothing ever happened. I looked it up in the manual and it says that symbol means throttle control/ transmission. I just let it go the first couple times it's done it and just pull over say "here we go again" and keep on keeping on. It has now done it 6 times and I've had enough. I took it to the local ford dealership and had to pay $130 just for them to look at my car and tell me what is wrong with it. I got a quote for the needed repairs at almost $800 to have the throttle body replaced. I then asked if there was any active recalls for my type of car and there are but unfortunately the recalled are VIN specific and my car of course doesn't fit into the affected VINs, that makes absolutely no sense to me what so ever. So I then asked if there is any way a report can be submitted to Ford stating my car of the exact same make and model but different VIN is having the exact same issues so they can start sending out recalls to other drivers that may be affected with this same problem and the man I was speaking with was a very rude uncompassionate jerk who said no there is nothing that can be done that is something that Ford has to do. At this point I'm beyond disgusted with this whole ordeal and I just walk out declining the repairs at this time because for me a single mother of 3 children $800 is a pretty big deal and not something that I can come up with easily. Me and my children depend on this car and have no other choice but to keep driving it and pray to god that nothing serious happens which I feel has a very high possibility...

I was expecting to get more than 100,000 miles from this car. Went to dealership and they played dumb, but later found Ford's Service bulletin TSB 08-24-1 about this problem.

Car would go into limp mode while driving. It would happen at intersections, when rolling thru then hitting the gas, and even while driving 65+ on the interstate. Cherokee Ford started diagnosing the problem in September of 2012 with a throttle body. Two weeks later the throttle body had to be replaced again. 22000 miles (7 months later) it started happening again. Replaced the throttle body a third time and got a partial credit. Now it is happening again. I mentioned that it seems to happen only when the A/C is on and they miraculously diagnosed a new wiring harness to fix the problem. A friend who is a mechanic said that he has replaced the same thing for the same issue in the past. It seems like a lot of people are having similar problems.

Once starting my car and pulling off from the drive way, the car jumps, thumps, jerks after pressing down on the gas pedal going 20-30mph, the check engine light would come, as well as the throttle light (wrench bar looking light) off to the far left or the panel. When I do 60mph, the car would shut off, the engine and throttle light come on. I would pull off to the side of the road, put the car in park for a few seconds, crank it back up, and the car would run normally, however, the check engine light stays on for a day, and then goes off the next day. I don't know when the car will stop on me again in the middle of traffic as it has been doing for the past 75,000 miles. EVERY mechanic tells me they do not know what the problem is. This car gets very annoying and can cause serious problems down the line. But since it has these many miles on it, I'm just looking at trading it in real soon!!

my 2006 Fusion apparently needs to have the transmission replaced-I only have under 90,000 which seems like low mileage for transmission failure doesn't it?

2006 was the year the Fusion was introduced . I've been told that there are problems with the 6 speed (which mine is). In some cases this has supposedly been resolved by no charge for the transmission replacement. Our Ford dealership has closed (the replacement did also!) so I don't have anywhere to go speak to them about my specific car & problem.

Ford knows of this problem with the valve in the transmission. Why won't they stand behind the default.

Will we have to get a lawyer? why hasn't the government conducted a investigation on the problem. Who do we talk to about this. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT PISSES US OFF.

First trans started leaking badly by the front seal area. they replaced with new trans, which was great. 13,000 miles later started doing same thing. They [the dealer] are going to replace it again, but accuse me of beating on my car, and tell i am lucky its covered.this time!!! That pisses the sh*t out of me, It's a dang 4 cyl what could i possibly be doing to it. ford reps feel free to reply
