My Ford Fusion V6 sel has been slipping since 50,000 miles. I have had 2 minor transmission changes within the past 3 years. Today me and my kids were driving about 20-35 mph around town when the transmission slipped. The car would not respond to accelerating on the gas pedal. I tried placing the car into low gear, reverse with nothing happening. This was on a busy intersection, the car final after forcing me and my kids to jerk forward started to work again. Each time I stopped at a stop light the car took 1-2 minutes to rise above 20 mph. I finally made it to my house which has a small slant on the drive way and the car struggled just to make it in the garage. This was the most embarrassing day of my life!!!! the car clearly is out of warranty and each time I look up tsb's I see more and more 2006-11 Ford Fusion postings. Being a Ford fan my whole life I must say if nothing is done with this complaint I will no longer support Ford and will encourage other not to as well. The next steps are to go to the Ford dealership and do a diagnostic. I may also try a major transmission change, my fear would be to do a transmission change with zero confidence that this will fix the problem!!! Ford must keep quality and safety in mind with every car they sell especially a 1st generation model.

My transmission is slipping a lot. I will be accelerating my speed and all of the sudden my car acts like it is in neutral. I have read a lot of complaints from other Ford Fusion owners stating the same problem. This needs to be recalled. This is very unsafe. Driving on the highway and then all of the sudden your transmission slips and there are cars at fast speeds traveling next to you and behind you is not safe at all.

Cruise control started malfunctioning. I have five controls for my cruise control. The resume cruise just stopped working. The +set button which is suppose to set cruise or speed it up now resumes cruise. The - set now sets the cruise and speeds the car up and not the on and off are only working sometimes. This is a real safety issue because myself of someone else could his the - set button trying to slow our vehicle down and instead of slowing down the car speeds up.

When driving car 25 miles per hour the car stops jerks decelerates the eventually kicks back up some times it does it with normal speed. Which has almost caused several accidents when car suddenly decelerates stops in the flow of traffic then having to wait till it kicks back up or just try to pull off road to keep from getting hit very scary when driving on highway of in rush hour traffic! or putting on flashers at the last minute hoping not to get hit!

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,000 miles
Automatic transmission slips out of gear when going up a hill or when passing another vehicle. The car make a rough noise and you have to brake in order to get the car to change gears. When the cruise control was set at 65 mph the car approached a small hill and the gear would not change and made a awful noise. I took the car to a Ford dealership for diagnostic check and it revealed that I need a transmission. The cost was quoted at $4900. This started approx 2 months ago and is still happening.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. On June 4, 2010, the contact stated that when he turned on the vehicle, the rpms increased rapidly. The rpms increased to 3,500 when it was normally on 900. The vehicle behaved that way for about sixteen miles so the contact parked it and let it sit for two hours. When he restarted it, the vehicle behaved normal. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired at the time of the complaint. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current and failure mileages were 27,635.
