After nearly crashing two times now in the rain, I have to express my dissatisfaction with Ford for not providing ABS brakes as a standard equipped safety option on most 2006 Ford Fusion SE Vehicles. Ford should have a WARNING LABEL on the dash informing drivers that the vehicle is NOT EQUIPPED with ABS at Minimum. I purchased this car under the assumption that ABS was a standard feature. My car has side airbags and curtains but NO ABS.
It's unbelievable Ford would cheat people by doing this to save a few dollars. I purchased this vehicle for my teenage son, and I will not allow him to drive this car because the braking system is 100% UNSAFE IN THE RAIN under moderate to heavy braking. Now I have to sell it and disclose to the buyer that the car is lacking an important safety feature (ABS). Ford should be held responsible and retrofit these Ford Fusions or buy them back.
The first week of owning my car I was in Orlando. The Anti-lock brakes locked up and I went skidding into the median and hit the curb. Ford said they would look into it. They had my car for 3 weeks. I had to pay for a rental car because they gave me a POS rental...
When braking hard, like trying not to hit a stopped car in traffic, the front wheels will lock up causing the front tires to have flat spots. The car skids instead of coming to a controlled stop. I complained to the dealer and nothing was done 3 times, once after a crash where at 30 MPH I slid 2 car lengths before I hit. After 158,000 miles I replaced the rear rotors and break pads which were only 1/2 used. I took 3000 miles for the new rotors to show wear. I know cars and I know this is not right, it is like the rear brakes barley work leaving only the fronts to stop.
