Ford should recall this car and stand behind their cars. There was at least 10 cars at the dealer ship waiting for this repair. We were told the car was unsafe to drive and was giving a rental car for 2 weeks waiting for this repair.

Paid 80 in June to "fix the problem". The car would surge in both reverse and drive (worse in Reverse, where it stalled). I took it in under warranty and they claimed I installed the air filter wrong and had to reprogram the Throttle body, even though I had this problem way before I changed the filter (done a week before). Said I would never go back to them, they didn't care. Told me I wouldn't have the problem, bit if I did bring it back. So it started again, then it didn;t accelerate, so I took it back and they tried to charge me for it since it was out of warranty almost 800 dollars, I refused, they finally relented. Stupid way to treat people, and when I brought it in to them in June the Tech even thought that it was the throttle body.

Freestyle Limited 3.2L V6

We took it in to dealership they said it was the transmission covered under powertrain warranty and that the TSB called for them to recompute the throttle body computer. Well it only got worst and it kept doing all the things that everyone else has said theirs did. Felt like it wanted to excel without you, then it did not want to go, then the wrench light was on, then it did not want to run and then it stopped. It sat a while and then it went but it continued to get worst. Dealership said that they can't help because we are out of warranty, part on back order, and won't give us a rental. So die in a accident because you have tried to excel in traffic and it decided to quit. This is a problem Ford has known about and refuses to accept fault of,something needs to happen. We are still trying to get help while we wait on the part that is conveniently on back order or we could take the after market part and only get a 90 day warranty verses a Ford part at 12 months warranty. No extra cost. What a rip off all the way around! Ford should be recalling this part. It looks like it has been a complaint for a while even on the 2005 Freestyle models. Wow! Ours is a 2007!

We're on vacation, about 200 miles from home. After lunch, while backing out of a parking space, the car stalls and the wrench light comes on. Pulling out of the lot, I have to push the pedal to the floor and we SLOWLY get up to speed. We drive the car to the next Ford service garage in LaPlata, MD. There it sits for the last day and a half, the mechanic can't get it to act up again. No theory given as to what the problem might be. I called the dealership in Williamsburg, VA and let them know what the trouble is. He says it might be trash in one of the lines that may have dislodged, ending the trouble. He's calling LaPlata to find out more. My fingers are crssed.
